The "deal" is that it's in stock
I am not an expert in this area and still learning things. so please excuse me if my information is not entirely correct.

It is definitely possible to have a 5.1.2. You can go up to 5.2.2. However If you use all your 7 channels, (5 main speakers and 2 ceiling speakers in your case), it may have lot of load on your receiver as you are almost using all the channels. It will still get the job done. But if I were you, I would buy a Emotica Amplifier (two channel one) along with this receiver and connect either my Atmos speakers(In ceiling ones) or Front speakers to that Amplifier so that way I have a better quality of sound overall.
Returned this for the Onkyo. The power supply is significantly more robust on the Onkyo. Denon could not handle reference level on a 7 speaker set up (driven at 6ohms). The onkyo is robust enough to handle 4ohm loads as well where the Denon is not. Plus with built on chromecast it was worth the extra $50.

Is it possible to use this receiver together with the jbl 9.1 soundbar so I can use a mic for karaoke?
Maybe, but what's the point of having a receiver if you also have a soundbar? Just connect the soundbar to your TV and skip the receiver and save yourself $500

I pulled the trigger on this deal. One of the first things I did was plug this into my laptop and QHD monitor and found that 2560x1440 is not a supported resolution. I'll either have to run both an HDMI and USB-C out to the receiver and monitor respectively or take it back to Costco. I'm pretty disappointed.

Ordered a few days ago . Mine is due to arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to setting it up as I was having some issues (not sure if they were with my less than 1 year old Sony x900 TV or my 19 year old Denon receiver) with the center channel disappearing unless I passed the audio from the TV to receiver via PCM

Because the old receiver was made right before HMDI was released, it had no HDMI ports so I had to run the cables direct to the TV and pass the sound via a Digital Optical cable from the TV to the old receiver. I am assuming my center channel disappearing was an issue with the old receiver.

I plan now to connect my components direct via HDMI to the receiver - with just the one HDMI to the TV using eArc.

Also upgrading my cables to the latest 8K certified ultra high speed since I have to pull some things apart anyway

Based on all I have read, this new receiver should work well for me. I have a 5.1 setup with high end Definitive Technology speakers and a Polk Sub. I plan to use the last 2 assignable speaker connection to run a Zone 2 (connecting it to an amplified device I have that will power built in ceiling speakers I have in 3 rooms of my house).

Once it is set up, I will chime in on how well it works
So finished setting this unit up, swapping out HDMI cables and also added a small pair of Sony Dolby Atmos enabled speakers to my set-up. Overall gamechanger.with these 3 changes

This Denon does virtually everything I need it to except my plan to use the last 2 assignable speaker connection to run a Zone 2 (connecting it to an amplified device I have that will power built in ceiling speakers I have in 3 rooms of my house).did not work as planned. Turns out I needed an RCA type Zone 2 out to connect with my Sonamp device that powers my built in speakers throughout the house. So I used the opportunity to add the a small pair of Sony Dolby Atmos enabled speakers. And I used my old 19 year old Denon AVR-1803 to just run my built in speakers in other parts of the house (for occasional music in those rooms)

Now I don't play this at ear shattering levels - as most of my usage is for my home theater setup - but it has plenty of power to get as loud as I like

Swapping out my old HDMI cables for new 8K Ultra High Speed ones was also worthwhile. Even though I don't have 8K equipment, I have noticed improved picture quality and much better sound with the new cables and this new Denon. I would very much recommend this

According to Costco systems this receiver will be in stock on Jan 28, but the electronics manager at a local store told me that's just an estimate and he doesn't have anything coming into the store this week. It is NOT a discontinued item though so my guess is its worth waiting for it to get back in stock. Cheapest that I see this model is on accessories4less for $500 for a refurbished unit.
