We go on Boy Scout/Cub Scout camping trips in the summer. Those large batteries are nice for fan, and bucket mister over a 2-4 day campout without a recharge station.

I don't understand why the 40volt never go on sale.

It is a big bulky battery, but it does find some use. Mostly, I use them in my brushless chainsaw and my yard trimmer.

I also find them extremely handy for offgrid use. I use them in a hacked manner to charge my phone and to power a fish finder while canoe camping where I don't have access to recharge them. I use a 3D printed contact adapter and a DC buck downconverter to accomplish this.

All that said, a Miady Lifepo4 is probably a better option right now by price if you are not powering a Ryobi tool and just need the 12V power.

Decent price on the 9Ah battery. I'm holding out for a lower price as I got them cheaper in 2019, but I don't think they are making this battery currently. Still, 50% off HD's price, not bad.

and here is 4ah 2-pack for $50 ... and new (?*)
https://slickdeals.net/f/15561304-factory-blemished-ryobi-one-18-volt-high-capacity-4-0-ah-battery-2-pack-49-99-free-store-pickup-or-10-shipping-49-99

i missed cos their site won't let me list factory blemished alongside new (in order to hide factory reconditioned).

edit*: according to the site the condition is neither new nor blemished nor reconditioned.
edit: ah, 'condition: factory blemished' in the specs.

Would love to hear the use case for a battery that size, other than in the power inverter.

Those ones are the non HP batteries. Still a fantastic deal if you have brushed tools that can't take advantage of the HP battery

i have a 6 and a 9 that typically get used for my string trimmer and chainsaw, but i also use them on the circ saw and jig saw. its not like the weight is a concern with them as they arent tools i have to support the weight of when in use. sometimes i prefer having some heft on the sawzall so it doesnt shake as much. and when it comes down to it, they are lighter than the ni-mh batteries back in the day that people used for every single tool they had.

also, its more space efficient than carrying 3x 3ah batteries. when i go to my cabin for a weekend, its the battery i grab first, followed by the 6ah. makes more sense than filling my toolbag up with tons of smaller batteries.

I also find the 9ah gives a little more power to my blower than the 4ah. Doesn't make sense to me, but it is absolutely more powerful with the 9. Almost useless without it.

I was watching a YouTube video video where the mechanic was using an impact wrench on a bolt and he noted that he couldn't get it loose until he used a larger capacity battery on his Milwaukee tools. I found that really interesting.
