I bought this last time the deal came around, and my saw arrived in a large box with no protection whatsoever. I was on a trip at the time and the box sat outside for a few days and got rained on. Even so, once I let the saw dry out for a couple of days I had a look and it was in very good condition, with only a couple of scratches on the aluminum table surface.

I looked up a couple of Youtube videos on how to calibrate a miter saw, bought a carpenter square on amazon for $8, and checked on the blade alignment. I found the miter 0 degree angle was perfect, but the bevel was a bit off. Thankfully they make both the miter angle and bevel angle easily adjusted, so after a few iterations of adjusting and checking I was able to get my saw nice and square.

Here's the video I ended up using to check the fence-to-blade alignment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB-QJ1B6toY

Although it did take a bit of extra work to get the saw set up, I think it was an excellent deal and I've already used it to build the Ana White garage shelves and used the sliding feature to cut a 10" wide shelf to length for the laundry room. The LED blade shadow feature is really cool, and I found it to be accurate. I will say the dust extraction port is pretty much useless, so you may want to do your cutting outside to avoid getting sawdust everywhere, as it ejects a lot of dust at high speed. I haven't tried cutting any bevels or non-90 degree angles yet, so I don't yet know how accurate the detents are.

Was $78 last week. Almost all the reviews I could find were that it is poorly packaged when shipped leading to misaligned blades which is a no-go for me. If you have a store near you, its worth checking out in person but delivery is a problem with these "factory reconditioned" items. Note, this is not "factory blemished" which is almost always brand new.

Not a bad saw, got one last time and it was thrown into a box and shipped without any packing material.
It survived ok, guess it is a well built saw.

I got it from HD new for $139 during Black Friday in 2020. It's been fine for cutting boards for a deck project and some framing during a remodel. The alignment isn't great (and I can't be bothered to try and fix it), and the bracket holding the dust collection bag has broken but it's worked fine. For $90 it's definitely worth it for hobby use.

Seems worth it to me. Needed a slider way too many times to count.

Can someone who has this comment on whether or not you can cut a 4x4 in one pass or if you have to flip them and do 2 passes.

This site sucks for shipping. Ordered the nonsliding 12/13 and still has not arrived.

Practically all modern 10" miter saws, sliding or not, can cut a 4x4 in one pass - this one included. My great-grandpappy's might not have been able to, but I haven't ever seen a modern 10" saw that couldn't.

Bought it for 77 bucks when the 60% off was going on. I know there is no time machine to go back. For the unavoidable time machine comment.

Good for what it is, I owned one and upgraded to a 12" dewalt sliding miter saw. There was too much play and flexibility in the ryobi and it was hard to get consistent 45% cuts for framing.
I have the saw and completely agree. My 45s never line up and l am pretty disappointed with it overall. I should have spent a little more on it but at the time I wasn't sure how much woodworking I would be doing. One positive, it's really light.

Miter saw is one tool where if you're going to actually use it, you'll probably regret buying a cheapo one.

I think it struggled with 6x6, but was fine for 4x4

Yeah, I've learned the hard way to never buy "factory refurbished" from DT, stick with new or factory blemished. My "factory refurbished" blower came looking like a 3 year old blower used commercially every day and is at the very end of it's useful life. Absolutely nothing refurbished about it, tossed in a box with zero padding and just mailed like that. Too bad I didn't open to use it till after the return window was past. I'm going to stick with new or factory blemished only from DT.

But, you don't get "Refurbished" melted into the plastic and who needs an extra 2 year warranty with free 90 day returns? Smilie

Yes, that is a decent deal for new, but as I posted in December, there are going to be ongoing deals for awhile as the backlog of cargo ships are getting unloaded on the west coast that missed Christmas.

Thanks OP, bought one! Been using a 15 year old 10" slider from HF. The blade guard broke off many years ago and I could never find a replacement. So I always had to remind myself to wait for the blade to stop before putting my hand near the cut wood.

Bought this last time it was this price. Arrived in an extra large cardboard box, on its side, in the driveway, with no packaging whatsoever. Somehow it was still in near perfect condition (one small scratch). Works great, and I'm very happy about it. This poor shipping seems pretty common from what I've read, but often product is alright. I'd read into the warranty and return policy before buying. Great deal if it turns out well for you. Good luck!
Mine too! Shipped just like yours, but was ok. Paid $78
