TW definitely requires continuous twelve months. I got an XR in August and thought the rewards would clear in time to pay so I waited go service interrupted for a few hours so I payed and later the rewards cleared. I use rewards to get two extra months and 5GB of data. My service runs until end of Jan. so I did a chat to see how much it would cost to unlock I was told $225. I said that isn't right it should be $175 I was told clock restarted for the few hours it was off.

I filed a complaint with FCC just to see if I could get them to honor my months. Not expecting much but it's a shot screw Tracfone.
That was under the old policy - there's no way to know how they will determine eligibility for unlock under new owner Verizon till after 1/23, though I expect new active phones with 60 days of service will be automatically unlocked. Still lots of questions about how service time & refurbs will be handled because it isn't spelled out in the policy.

So just activate with 1st month and don't buy 2nd month, reach to 60 days and request unlock?
See comment from rep:
Jorina: All our phones are locked with Total Wireless. However, you have the option to have it unlocked. Provided, you will follow the terms and conditions or our unlocking policy. the phone needs to be active under Total for at least 60 days in order to be eligible for the Free Unlocking, but if you do not want to pay for the next month then you can pay for the unlocking fee for $300 for iPhones in order for it to unlock.

I edited post (hadn't finished) - new policy is very generic & it's up to Verizon to decide what meets their requirements.

In past TF/TW has had some very questionable reasons for denying unlock, hopefully VZ is more straightforward - we just won't know till after 1/23.

Yes πŸ™‚
You can read the details of the unlocking policy yourself. (Link below)
https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/home/!ut/p/a1/04_Sj9CPykssy0xPLMnMz0vMAfGjzOK9LV0tDC0NDL3... [tfwunlockpolicy.com]

here you can read that it is 60 days after activation
there is no mention of "continuous service" required

Yet support is telling some people they need 60 days of active service & others are still saying a year, can't trust them at this point.

It's why I keep saying no one will know actual policy requirements till AFTER 1/23 when 60 days have passed.

Until then people are just guessing.

I took the IMEI from the iPhone XR I ordered from total wireless and put it into T-Mobiles IMEI checker. And it came up with:

You're all set.
Your device is compatible with the T‑Mobile network and can take advantage of our most powerful signal, Extended Range LTE.

Apple iPhone XR
IMEI: 3568***********

This device is fully compatible with T-Mobile's network technology. Tell me more
This device is not blocked from use on our network.

I'll see tomorrow once I pop my sim into it.
How you find out imei number without receive the phone yet?

Yeah knowing Tracfone there will be some surprises. I am a glutton for punishment because I picked up an 11 hoping for unlock if not I may just trade all my iPhones in to Apple and get a 13

You click activate on the shipping email and it will take you to a screen with the imei number. It won't actually activate anything unless you push continue on that screen.

What is Verizon's device locking policy?
Beginning on 7/23/2019, devices purchased from Verizon are locked for 60 days from the date of purchase. This policy applies to new and existing customers, postpaid and prepaid plans and customers porting their service to another carrier.

Please see examples below for more information:

Device purchased at full retail price or on a device payment agreement – Locked for 60 days from purchase
Device purchased on a device payment agreement and paid off prior to 60 day requirement – Locked for 60 days from purchase
Customers porting out service – Device remains locked until 60-day requirement has been met
Verizon service canceled while device is locked – Device remains locked until 60-day requirement has been met
Prepaid customers – Locked for 60 days from purchase

If I suspend my service, does the date my device will be unlocked change?
No, suspending your device does not change when your device will be eligible to be unlocked.

Note: Suspending your device because it was lost or stolen will prevent it from being unlocked.

Don't think that applies to discounted TF/TW phones because we aren't actually VZ customers.
VZ didn't even buy the TF brands till 11/23/21 so a policy from 2019 wouldn't be legal.
All there is to go on is the very minimal TF/TW policy as posted on both the TW and TF websites.

I have bought so many from my own findings (same companies), that I am now well versed in the unlocking policy and when to actually buy these πŸ™‚

I would actually pull the trigger and get the $800 credit from sprint for the iPhone 13
EXCEPT
That I have bad credit 😭
How do you unlock?

Soft unlock << with white sim
or
Regular unlock?
