"The most magical thing just happened guys. Today I woke up to a "No SIM Restriction" on a Verizon iPhone 13. So they do definitely unlock it automatically on the 60th day. I still have the Verizon line but it's in a "voluntary suspended )$10 a month)" status because I wanted to make sure it would unlock and I still had a line (I don't think keeping a line is necessary btw, I was just being extra cautious). All good. Everything turned out ok to my surprise!"
SIM options
Tracfone: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
Total Wireless: Verizon
Simple Mobile: T-Mobile
Net10: ATT(now removed), T-Mo, Verizon
Pageplus: Verizon
Walmart Family Mobile: T-Mo
Straight Talk: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
I've been doing this a while and know the ins and outs of TFW. Verizon may or may not force all brands to their network at some point. They also may consolidate the brands, but that's the rundown.

"Didnt know TW has this avail, does this need to be used on the refurbished xr/new 11 after 60 days or it should automatically unlock?"
That I do not know. In the Month of December 2021 I also requested an unlock through the portal for a Total Wireless iPhone 6S Plus that I have but no longer use. I had updated the software and it was sitting powered on connected to Wi-Fi for at least a week, still said SIM locked. Requested unlock through the portal and after a day or two it became unlocked. The TW SIM does not have to be active or in the device to unlock, at least not when I requested through the portal.
Me personally, I will be requesting unlock through the portal for the XR and the 11 beginning at the last week of the second month. Takes less than 2 minutes, have the phone number used to activate the line handy, even if you submit the request using IMEI only.
Not sure if they will allow the unlock for the XR though since it likely contains "fake parts" (joking of course).
My son has Tracfone and a Pixel 2 that I gave him as a hand-me-down. He just got a refurb iPhone 11 from Gazelle that he was going to pop the SimCard into.
Can he just do this instead? Get this device, activate for the 30 days and then wait 60 days for the unlock all the while continuing to use the Pixel 2? Then once the 60 days are over, just swap out the SIM from the Pixel 2? I'm sure he'd prefer to get a new one as opposed to a "Fair" one he got from Gazelle for 100 bucks more.
Perhaps January 20th, 2021??????????????????
TW plan will not transfer to TF.
(In past using $1 BYOP sim has resulted in phone not being unlocked since they're meant for already unlocked phones)
Need the International Data TMO offers while traveling
$250 + tax for the 11, $122 + tax for the XR.
Trade for TMO phone (iP13, S21) @ BB. . .11 fetches $500, XR fetches $390. . .XR edges out for "best trade" by about $20 over the 11 after taxes etc.
@ BB, the S21's are ALSO currently highly discounted ($499/$649/$849 for S21/+/Ultra)
No Bill credits, instant full credit @BB
Through TMO, the XR is the better trade in deal now. . .the 11 is better if you wait until iP14 to trade it.
TMO giving $400 TIV for each phone. . .or $800 if you have Magenta Max or other top premium plan.
You also pay tax on full MSRP for purchases from TMO. . .and of course 24 or 30 mo. bill credits
Though at TMO, the S21 series prices are higher at full MSRP $799/$999/$1199. . .so if you don't have Max plan go to BB (maybe even if you do!)
The prices for iPhones are same at TMO and BB, so if you have Max i would do through TMO for sure

Not trying to be rude, but I literally posted the link a few posts prior.

"For Apple devices activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked 60 days after activation in the absence of an indication of fraud."
>> New Tracfone service << service (plan?) being the key here I suppose.
I will be keeping the 11 to use with my existing multi line plan, using a BYOD SIM to activate. We'll see what happens in 60 days when I request an unlock through the portal.
Alternately, somewhere buried in the XR thread was my (frustrating) experience trying to activate my XR with $100 plan attached, and how it split my line into its own group. I got it back into the existing multi line group, and the $100 in reserve, so did that count as an activation on new plan for the XR? Can it be unlocked after 60 days? The plot thickens. π
Bring back the scratch cards instead of adding plan to the SIM (the website says adding plan to SIM is for MY convenience). Those were the days. Never had an issue upgrading a device back then.

In past unlock time started when you activated sim on your account, will just have to see how this works out (there are a lot of variables).
the phone comes in a sealed box
Checking if I can combine the plan codes on one TW phone in case I have to return one of the phones.

Meanwhile each new page of these threads have the same speculations and requests to know exactly how it works, even though we are not yet 60 days into the new policy. SMH.

The sim comes outside the phone, in a pre-cut card (sz of a CC)
Hence you don't have to insert the sim the phone comes with.
While the sim stays as a "pair" with the TW system they are NOT glued together
Let me know if you have any other questions π
