So, has there been even one case where someone has been able to unlock TW phone having only paid for one month of service, then waited until day 60 and got their phone unlocked?
I will know in < 3 weeks. I spoke directly with someone from the unlocking department last week and was told that I did not need to purchase a second month of service to be eligible for unlock. I bought a refurb iPhone XR directly from the website and had to purchase one month of service. I activated around the end of December. Hopefully, the phone will be unlocked.

What's the cheapest way to get 2nd month, just to be safe? On Total Wireless.

I'd rather pay for one month, than a possible two...

It will be too late for me since my 2nd month is due on February 20, but your experiment will be closely watched by many. ApplauseApplause

Looks like on HoFo we might have a data point for someone getting unlocked w/o a second month of service:

https://www.howardforums.com/show...st17206355

Worth pointing out that everyone else to this point that said they didn't buy the 2nd month also said they had some sort of year long prepaid plan. Since they didn't explicitly say they only purchased a single month, might want to take this one with a grain of salt.

That's promising, although it looks like it's on Tracphone service rather than TW, and I think I have seen reports of their unlocking working slightly differently in other posts from these threads.

I'm pretty sure one of the regular posters to these threads mentioned having a TW phone with no second month of service that hits 60 days before the end of February. But hopefully, we'll see more data start rolling in before then.

It's also activation with a transfer from another phone so likely they already had service & didn't need to add more.
Still no reports of unlock with only 30 days of service yet.

Just to be clear when you see that the poster mentioned 'transfer activation' it means that they already has existing service that probably had over 60 days service time. They simply activated the device into an existing line/account with TW. Transfer activation does NOT mean that the poster paid for only 30-day service and got the device unlocked in 60 days. So far no one has reported anywhere (SD, HF, or reddit) that they paid for only 30-day service and got their device unlocked in 60 days (when they had no active service with TW).

Ah, I misunderstood then. Thought that meant a port in from somewhere else.

I'm coming up on 30 days in about 2 weeks. Barring any actual data points, I'll probably just bite the bullet for another 30. Would rather spend the extra $25 rather than having to wait even longer or worse yet, having the clock reset somehow.

So what do they do next? Automatically ship it back to you?

I'm curious what 3utools says now (serial number comparison for screen) and if Face ID is broken when you get it back.
Just traded in to Gamestop for a $235 Visa card (they had cards that go up to $500). Phobio sent it back with scratches on the screen and not unlocked, but I was able to polish them out a bit before taking to GameStop. Luckily they didn't mess with any serial numbers so it worked normally. GS accepted as Verizon and gave me the gift card, which I immediately loaded to my Amazon Gift Balance in the parking lot. Crisis averted, and now I'm wishing I traded more in there for the extra amount. I'm surprised the value actually went up over the weekend.

The lowest cost for one month is the $25 plan - plus taxes. There's a 5% discount if you set up auto-refill, and you can cancel this option immediately after it charges you for the second month, which it does on the activation anniversary date.
Adding the taxes and subtracting the discount, I'll be paying about $27 for the second month.

If you buy a $25 refill card from Target, and use the Red Card, you will also get a 5% discount. And I believe there are no taxes on the $25 refill card either, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just tried it for NY delivery and you're right - no taxes!
I'll do this instead of the auto-refill at TW.
