Someone posted the following comment in 'Black Friday iPhone deal thread'. Their Verizon iPhone Auto Unlocked on the 60th day.

"The most magical thing just happened guys. Today I woke up to a "No SIM Restriction" on a Verizon iPhone 13. So they do definitely unlock it automatically on the 60th day. I still have the Verizon line but it's in a "voluntary suspended )$10 a month)" status because I wanted to make sure it would unlock and I still had a line (I don't think keeping a line is necessary btw, I was just being extra cautious). All good. Everything turned out ok to my surprise!"

That's Tracfone proper, you can choose. Total Wireless has always been Verizon only and Simple Mobile is T-Mobile. The parent company of Tracfone (which VW bought) has these:

SIM options
Tracfone: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
Total Wireless: Verizon
Simple Mobile: T-Mobile
Net10: ATT(now removed), T-Mo, Verizon
Pageplus: Verizon
Walmart Family Mobile: T-Mo
Straight Talk: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon

I've been doing this a while and know the ins and outs of TFW. Verizon may or may not force all brands to their network at some point. They also may consolidate the brands, but that's the rundown.

Happy to report that my refurb XR is unlocked. After seeing your message, I checked Carrier Lock and it indeed said No SIM restrictions. Activated my service on 12/23. Did not pay for 2nd month of service. Hooray!

2nd month was due on 17th feb, i didn't refill.

Gotcha. There was one person who reported that they didn't get a second month and they were able to call in and after being denied twice, they got it unlocked by the third rep. But that was on day 60, so we don't know for sure if they may still unlock automatically, given another day or two. We know that you can't count the first day you activate as one of the 60 days (based on a different user). However, we don't know if that was taken into account. There could also possibly be a delay for the unlock to be triggered if you're not on active service and just using WiFi. Too many variables to say for certain one way or another given that the one example called right on day 60. We should be getting others reporting in soon.

How do you confirm your phone is unlocked or not after 61 days if you don't have 2nd month service? Cuz you can NOT receive messages from them even your phone is eligible for unlocked, unless you restore your phone to find out.

You don't actually need cell service to unlock, but I'm to sure if using WiFi only might cause some kind of delay. Carriers can "push" updates to your phone and they might do that by default when they send the unlock message. That may still be a possibility, but nothing there mentions that the account will be listed as "active" during that time. It just makes sense that if you let the account lapse, it will show as inactive, regardless of unlock status.

so if I use something like Rsim to unlock my phone, the "carrier lock" already says "No SIM restrictions", is it gonna affect the permanent unlocked after 61 days? Any chance they can detect that I've used Rsim? I assume they never know cuz they can't track what sim i'm using at the moment -_-.

Which is basically

"I didn't pay for 2nd month. Why TW says my line is inactive 5 days after the first month?"

No the question had nothing to do with unlocking. It's literally asking for "why my line isn't active that I didn't pay for?"
