Someone posted the following comment in 'Black Friday iPhone deal thread'. Their Verizon iPhone Auto Unlocked on the 60th day.

"The most magical thing just happened guys. Today I woke up to a "No SIM Restriction" on a Verizon iPhone 13. So they do definitely unlock it automatically on the 60th day. I still have the Verizon line but it's in a "voluntary suspended )$10 a month)" status because I wanted to make sure it would unlock and I still had a line (I don't think keeping a line is necessary btw, I was just being extra cautious). All good. Everything turned out ok to my surprise!"

That's Tracfone proper, you can choose. Total Wireless has always been Verizon only and Simple Mobile is T-Mobile. The parent company of Tracfone (which VW bought) has these:

SIM options
Tracfone: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon
Total Wireless: Verizon
Simple Mobile: T-Mobile
Net10: ATT(now removed), T-Mo, Verizon
Pageplus: Verizon
Walmart Family Mobile: T-Mo
Straight Talk: ATT, T-Mo, Verizon

I've been doing this a while and know the ins and outs of TFW. Verizon may or may not force all brands to their network at some point. They also may consolidate the brands, but that's the rundown.

Happy to report that my refurb XR is unlocked. After seeing your message, I checked Carrier Lock and it indeed said No SIM restrictions. Activated my service on 12/23. Did not pay for 2nd month of service. Hooray!

One update on unlock status for my iPhone 11.
Activated it on TW web site at Feb 14. Never opened the phone box or activated the phone itself. Just activated the SIM card and service.
Phone got unlocked today (Apr 15).

I got an unlocked, sealed in box and not-activated iPhone (should have full one year warranty from Apple after activation) after 2 months. Great deal.
Sounds great, I have one SIM activated around Feb 25 was try to same thing, phone brand new never open box activated yet, I will check end of month for my brand new seal iPhone 11 unlock status.

If it's unlocked as well, I'll keep my TF iPhone 11 sealed when I activate the service. Let us know. Thanks.

I activated the iphone 11 on Tracfone in mid Feb, now it's been more than 70 days, still locked, both on phone and sickw. Got rewards points on 61 day. Anyone on the same boat?

A number of people have had it fail to unlock automatically. It happened on one of mine as well. Just give the unlocking dept a call and they should get it going. It might take calling back a couple of times to get a rep who knows what to do. If so, don't bother arguing, but just hang up and call back.

First, text unlock to 611611 and see what it says. It will most likely say that your phone is already unlocked. You can tell the rep that when you call and it may help make them realize that it's actually supposed to be unlocked and you're not just calling too soon.

Edit: Just realized it was activated on Tracphone. Not sure if that may be an issue. I think some mentioned the original SIM needed to be used and converted to Tracphone in their system or something for the auto unlock

I am using the original TW sim to activate TF service, so I can get active service for 3 months and rewards. Texted unlock to 611611, it said "our records indicate you are using your own device. If you have experiencing some issue, please contact the manufacturer where you originally purchased the device"

Yeah, you'll need to give them a call. I think I remember seeing a couple others say that their phone was showing as BYOD as well. Hopefully the provider switch doesn't complicate things.

The unlocking dept is 888-442-5102.

I'm not clear if I need to purchase a second (or 3rd) 60 days of service, or if I can just activate with the 30 days that came with the phone, and let it sit, and it will unlock on day 61.

Multiple people have reported getting auto unlock after 61 days with only the initial 30 day plan. There have been a few issues where it's not automatic, but most all seem to get it unlocked after calling their unlock dept (even with only the initial 30 days of service)

Thanks. What is the worst case scenario? Buy another 30 days at 61 and can't get it unlocked for 90 days?

I suppose, but I really don't think it should be a problem. There are four or five of these TW threads and everyone seems to have had pretty great success with unlocks from everything I've read. The worst I've seen so far is for those where it wasn't automatic, some have needed to call back a few times until they get an agent who knows the new policy instead of quoting the old 12-month terms.

Oh yeah … text "unlock" to 611611 and it will give you the unlock date. And when that date passes, it will generally say "your phone is unlocked" even if there was a glitch and it didn't auto unlock. That can help let the rep know that it's definitely supposed to be unlocked if you neeed to talk to them. (You can still text 611611 and get replies even without active service.)
