Military discount works on these too if you qualify for that option. 😊

Thanks OP!

Any idea why these have an X in the breakdown for use with plastic material ?

I was hoping to use with composite decking and these screws look the same as the ones I've used for composite / plastic decking boards in the past. Couldn't find comments or info on the issue. Anyone know the reason for this?

Screws for composite decking have smaller heads on them. Take a look next time you're in a store.

I highly recommend hunting around if you don't find them in the aisle. I recently had an odd experience with these. Quite awhile ago these and a 1000 pc 2.5" box were on here and showed in stock locally but couldn't be found in the aisle. Right before xmas, I went in for a couple of the advertised bit sets and was told they didnt have them but I found them in a display marked full price by the lumber bay. So, last week when stopping in, I started thinking about that experience and went hunting for the screws in the aisle that the site said they were in. I went through everything I could see on every shelf in the aisle, even crawling around on the floor looking behind stuff. I spent far too long there and decided to leave, but was curious about those bit sets so I went to see if they were gone. They were still there, marked full price with as the three I bought gone and a few more gone that were probably the surprised employees that said they were getting them. Then, still back in this area in lumber I see a small freestand shelf set with those freaking screws that I'd been hunting for! They were dusty and didnt look like they belonged with the other stuff there but were accurately marked with a shelf tag with other regular priced stuff. So, In the aisle you had a 320 count for $34.99 and a 1550 count for $104 and for at least three months the $30 1000 pc was sitting on this oddly placed shelf with the lumber.

From the stories I've read here, it sounds like it's a chain-wide thing that products unknowingly go on clearance and just blend in with regular priced products. Not complaining though, these 3" ones weren't showing in stock before, so I may be able to find some knowing I need to do some hunting.

Somehow the supply chain way overproduced tan-color decking screws. If you've been watching, they've gone on deep sale many times through the year. They are also always on sale and overstocked at local stores. Seems like a really bad manufacturing error. There aren't many decks that would even match the color.

That said, if you can use them for other applications, or actually have a deck that would go with a tan color, this is a great deal. Hidden wood work, attaching spacers/etc, may be good. However, for actual joist attachments make sure you're using structural screws for the load connections.

So far, it is a Popular deal, but FP would be fine.

If you know of anyplace that beats or even matches this price, please post a link. I expected this price to be long gone from Lowes months ago. Smaller boxes of same cost more.

Edit for my local store is out of stock and no option for shipping. Guess that leaves finding in store.

True, but if surface mounting, I like these for a cleaner look with a quick flush countersink.

Each composite deck manufacture seems to have their own proprietary attachment options and all are expensive.

Bugle head screws will mushroom composite material under the head. Proper composite deck screws have a smaller, cupped head with reversing threads just under the head that will push down excess material. Someone else mentioned that you could use these bugles successfully if you countersink beforehand.

That being said, I always snatch up any style deck screws when on sale. They have the exterior coating, the star/torx drive, and the cutting tip. Screws are used exclusively for our tiny house builds. The only nails I use now are for composition roofing.

Yes, we bought two boxes of both sizes delivered at separate times for inventory.

Problem is, for the minimum order of two for delivery, they stack two and you will probably have at least one cracked. The shipping boxes are sturdy enough to hold the contents, but if ordered both sizes and both boxes crack/break, you will be sorting or returning. If one wants pristine and no damage, probably best to pick up in store.
Ordered 8 boxes of the 3.5 inch last time around. arrived in one giant box (poor UPS driver). Delivered fine. no cracks

Just finished a chicken run with a box of the 3" from the last deal. Worked great.

I mean. How you choose to screw is a personal preference. Apparently people like a good screw. If a good screwis not for you that's also fine. Why do you care?
