A bit of a round about comment here... I've never owned an Apple Watch, nor any Apple product for that matter, but a recent commercial for the Apple watch that details a 911 call from a man getting pushed out to sea by a strong wind whilst paddleboarding is 100% representative of a situation that happened to me and a friend of mine. I've never been closer to death than I was in that situation, and to this day I can still feel every ounce of the feelings I had that day when I watch that commercial. I literally get tears when the guy says he can't fight the wind anymore. I would've done anything in that situation to have a piece of equipment like this that could've provided us more than just a lucky chance of being rescued. If you engage in any activities that have the potential to go south really quickly, please consider acquiring something that may be able to help you survive in the event that everything goes wrong. I'm alive today because of luck and whatever higher power saw fit to intervene. A product like this may allow you to not have to rely on such things in order to survive. This isn't an endorsement, merely a PSA.

So now that Amazon has jumped in as well - any chance they add the other colors to the price decrease?
Hope they match the price of the other colors soon...

Bought it for 399.99 a couple weeks ago. I went from a 3 to the 7. WELL worth the upgrade if you ask me.
What's the biggest few differences that you have recognized? I am trying to pull the trigger but havent found a reason to do so yet.

Same here. My 3 finally quit on me after years of abuse, when I got the 7 I was amazed at the difference. The screen looks huge.

I am in that position right now, my 3 is still working but won't do updates anymore due to memory , I am torn between going to get this right now but there's someone with Series 6 stainless steel one on FB Marketplace for $400 in mint condition and I might buy that instead.

Is there any reason to choose Aluminum over Stainless Steel and the Herme Edition other than price?

Amazingly better display, oxygen sensor, ekg sensor, better feel on button presses, much much faster. The only thing I think isn't any better is battery life.

Good point. I don't know anything about this product specifically, but merely that some in the lineup do have that capability. Other brands offer similar things as well I'm sure. Ultimately, I just want people to be aware and look out for themselves. It's easy to think certain things are gimmicks sometimes, but when you find itself in the exact situation that it's designed for, certain features and pieces of equipment become all that matters.
I bought my Mom a 6 from an earlier deal last year. Mostly bought it because of the "fall detection" feature and ECG feature (she goes in to Afib every couple of months). It's been a godsend. Peace of mind for both her and I.

Great advice... and I do now too. On that day, I wasn't in that mind set because I was a fairly strong paddleboarder/swimmer, and I never ventured very far from shore. However, my friend was relatively inexperienced and she found herself drifting quickly from shore in a riptide. She also appeared to be in substantial distress. I paddled out to help her, but quickly found that an uptick in the wind jettisoned us both far away from the shoreline, beyond the line of travel for any visible boats, faster than I could've imagined. With her in tow, I couldn't muster enough energy to beat the wind and the tide to get us both back. I can't begin to tell you how humbling it is to have the darkening of the deep water surround you whilst watching land slip further and further from view.

Whenever I do anything like that now, I bring all of the right gear, and I don't merely make a plan just for myself anymore, I make a plan for everyone I'm with as well.

So you are saying in a round about way....you weren't fully prepared with the necessary safety devices that all boaters are required to carry on the open seas. So you had no EPIRB or personal locator device, safety vests, or anything on board? Glad you made it out safely but lack of preparedness will get you no sympathy here. I would rather have a personal locator device rather than an Apple Watch on board if I was in a situation like that. Besides, Apple is using fear to sell their watches.
You ever seen that Cathy Newman/Jordan Peterson interview? You remind me of her.

Couple quick inquiries if you don't mind... Is there something that made you think I yearn for your sympathy? Or that I didn't have any of the items you mentioned? And does the company that you bought your personal locator device use different themes to sell the feature of their personal safety product?

Also, I never advocated for the Apple Watch specifically. I merely mentioned that devices that offer additional capabilities for seldom encountered situations shouldn't be overlooked. The connection to Apple was only in so far as I lived that specific situation.

Ultimately, you okay big guy? You seem like you need a hug. I know this is the internet and there has to be a turd bird in every thread, but normally that should be reserved for people that disagree, which I'm pretty sure we don't. But if you're merely trying to answer the roll call for being arbitrarily argumentative, then I for one would like to say thank you for your service.
