Also, which carrier is OP's deal: Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile; or do you choose the carrier upon receipt and activation?

Or would it be better to do "add a line" and thereby gain rewards that could be spent for any of the lines on your account?
I've been waiting for Tracfone via eBay deal for $30 / annual, but this deal is better as it includes new phone. I purchased same package in July 2021. I will activate new phone in July 2022, then unlock (prior to Nov '21 activation, so 1 year unlock) and dump on eBay for $25 or more. Rinse and repeat every time new HSN Phone deal comes up for $30.

Most people text a lot and you can buy a thousand texts for $5!
Apparently you use some kind of temporary IMEI but that's dangerous if you don't own/control that IMEI and the process fails.
Can I activate after 1-2 years or it has activation expiry date?

I don't know how the new company Verizon handles this but TracFone used to allow you up to a year to activate and if you did so longer than a year, you would only be activating the phone and you would lose your bundled minutes and years time!
