Both are really good choices and I think it mostly comes down to the location you will put it in. Light in room, how far your seats are from the TV, what angle from the TV, etc.

What has me concerned from a pricing perspective is that the 75" q80a is on sale through Super Bowl weekend for $1699 which doesn't leave a lot of room for the qn85a 75" or 85" to drop. Hopefully I am wrong.

I went to Best Buy this afternoon and ended up buying the X90J. On sale for $1199.99. Weighed my options carefully and this TV will more than satisfy our needs and takes a bit less out of my bank account than the Samsung. Gets delivered next Thursday.

Thanks. Costco had the 75" late last year for $2,199. Thought maybe the price had dropped lower than this.

Can you tell me what you are missing from your q80a that will cause you to want to upgrade to the qn85a other than obviously the size difference of going from a 75" to a 85"? I can see a brighter picture on the qn85a at Best Buy vs the q80a but other than that they look pretty close in picture quality to me.

The qn85a has mini leds to control local dimming better. The blacks on the qn85a are much more black vs grey in the q80a. I watch shows with subtitles and the edge blooming is noticeable with dark contrasts. Also, the 85" Qn85 has a va panel for much better contrast. However with that said, at the end of the day for daily usage the price jump will be noticeable for a incremental improvement depending on the price.

To me, I am happy with my current setup, however I want to not have as much doubt as better units in a few yrs come out. From both a size and visual perspective I can definitely see the qn85a being ideal for my needs for at least 5 yrs.

here is a comparison of both 75" and smaller. The 85" versions which have va panels will be different.

Damn why couldn't Costco do damn 2699

I have 90 day returns. If qn85 85 drops to 2699 from Costco I will be the first buyer. I will return the 82

I tossed the box out tho. Guess I can toss the 82 q6 in the Q85 box lol. I wonder if Costco will be pissed bc won't have a matching box to the 82 if I return it

But they got to understand q6 to Qn85 is massive upgrade and people don't want giant box sitting around
