Once installed, which is what I think you are inferring, it should be good for about 5-7years.
The variable is primarily operating condition. If overclocked CPU, running in a hot attic or room with poor ventilation, Florida, whatever, that may knock a year or two off. Take care of your system with average to good cooling, ~72dg avg room temp, it wouldn't be unusual to get 10yrs.
You can typically know it's time when starting to get thermal shutdowns of the CPU, as a protection mechanism.

I'd suggest if they saw much more, either the heatsink or CPU may be severely warped whichnwould be well, kind of weird.
I hear good things with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and that was what I used for my new build. I wonder which is better or if they are all in the same ballpark performance wise.

When you start getting into this quality level, it starts to get close enough that for most of us, the practical impact isn't really perceivable to anyone other than the most dedicated enthusiast. If that were the case, I wouldn't be looking at TG's aluminum silicone mix but rather find a heavier silver or copper mix as either metal is several steps ahead on basic thermal conductivity.
