Kit: DCK254E2
Impact Driver: DCF850
Hammer Drill: DCF709

This is a brand new kit, so new my local stores didn't have them on display yet, and Home Depot doesn't have them in their online inventory yet. That said, they were still plentiful in my local area. One store couldn't find them, but the other store had them in the "No Home" shelving down one aisle.

Most valuable though, the kit comes with two of their new 20V Powerstack [dewalt.com] batteries. Don't let the 1.7 Ah fool you--I just did 100 deck screws without making a dent in the battery meter. Even if you've already got some 20V batteries, you might actually want to keep these.

So your store that had them said "unavailable" on the website?

The first store I went to listed 9 in stock, but no one in store was able to locate them. When I went to another store with 9 in stock, they found them in a "no home" section of the store. I was told they were probably newer inventory that hadn't been set up for display yet.

Amp-hour capacity is what it is. The different cell structure of these won't give you any more run time.

What it will do, however, is provide more power for tools that can draw more amps than the standard small battery packs can deliver. Giving up power faster equates to better performance and less run time (in high power draw tools) as compared to the standard 5-cell packs.

Apparently some people think there's Keebler elves inside.

New battery tech aside, 1.7 Ah is woefully low for a project, swapping batteries more often than getting another beer.

Good intro price if you break down the price individually considering they're the latest products besides the drill, but I think you can wait for a hackable holiday deal where I bet you can get the powerstack for cheaper.

Project farm reviewed these
They deliver similar power to the 5ah, but don't last as long as the 2ah, so good for small projects only.

This set also includes Dewalts latest DCF850 impact driver (Keebler elves included). Very compact and very powerful... and very hard to find in most areas of the U.S.

Batteries aside, that drill will give you 2 months of occasional use before it starts spitting out bearings. The driver, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a dud. And then another 50/50 of a non-dud lasting through the year.

The name "Atomic" is fitting since you will want to avoid it for at least 30 years.

The Dewalt Hype-Train was strong on the 850 and the batteries (as SB&D sent them to every Insta and YouTube channel with ofler 1k subs. Lol).

I know, I sound like a broken record, but I'm just trying to save others from making the same mistakes that I, and many others, made.

So, if anything, wait to buy the 850 and/or the powerstack (Spicy Pillows) time will show the real story.

*Cough-PlannedObsolescence- Cough'* lol.

I'll accept my downvotes now thank you. 😀
