If you've used an e-ink reader and can honestly say that you see no difference between e-ink and a cellphone, well then more power to you. Don't waste your money.
Personally, I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a fork than try to read a novel on a cellphone.
These are okay. The latest gen, with 300 pppi and the warm light are much nicer (got my 9 yo one of these, and myself one of the latest gen on black friday). That being said, it's a great price if you'll be satisfied with the display on this one.

How much was the Paperwhite on Black Friday?

I have a cellphone. Why do i need to worry about carrying another device when my phone works as a kindle?
If you're reading for like 10 min then it doesn't matter. I read books for hours at a time. This will last multiple weeks on a single charge with use and it's easier on the eyes.

So then don't buy this. Others see where it's clearly valuable for them.

If you don't think you need one then don't worry about it. For avid readers it's nice having something with a book page-sized screen that isn't back-lit so it doesn't exhaust your eyes and the battery lasts weeks so you don't have to reach for a charger every few hours. Plus for me personally if I'm on my phone I am too easily distracted with social media and texts and stuff, focusing on a book for more than a couple minutes at a time would be almost impossible for me but maybe it's not a problem for most people. Before I had my Kindle I barely read two books a year, I'm now on my 8th book in less than 2 months.

Good point. But going from a cell phone to kindle is better than this petty arguing over whether to get this gen or that gen. Either is a sound improvement and $50 is the slicker deal

Expires at 1/16 11:59 PM ET.
Not sure if there's credit if buying one.
