Sony added the VRR support during an update in December.
I have an Apple TV 4K connected as well for HBO, Netflix, and Disney+. All the content that comes in Dolby Vision looks stunning.
The built in apps work great as well, but if you do a side by side comparison, the Apple TV is pulling down a higher bit rate.
I agree with comments here about X90 being more preferred due the local dimming LED array. It's nice to have, but not a deal breaker considering the cost of this X85J.
The X85J has a full panel array lighting which is still a step up from edge lit panels.

Only thing I don't like about it is dark corners (vignetting).

If Sony has fixed 120Hz 4K and added VRR, this deal gets pretty good.
I worry a little about reliability with the Hisense, but then my 6 year old Sony X810C has an issue where it won't turn on sometimes until you unplug it. That makes me nervous.
