Does anyone know if I am able to get a price adjustment from Best Buy? I got this tv just a couple weeks ago for 100 bucks more.

This is an excellent tv for the price. I have the 85" version paired with my PS5 and it's just awesome!
Sony added the VRR support during an update in December.
I have an Apple TV 4K connected as well for HBO, Netflix, and Disney+. All the content that comes in Dolby Vision looks stunning.
The built in apps work great as well, but if you do a side by side comparison, the Apple TV is pulling down a higher bit rate.

I agree with comments here about X90 being more preferred due the local dimming LED array. It's nice to have, but not a deal breaker considering the cost of this X85J.
The X85J has a full panel array lighting which is still a step up from edge lit panels.

Can you and other actual owners of this X85J comment on the real world viewing angles? How bad is it off angle. I know the rtings viewing angle rating isn't good but how is it in the real world?

I got the 43" X85J last BF and love it. 4K, 120Hz, 4 HDMI (two 2.1), surprisingly decent speakers, and amazing blacks thanks to VA panel. Series X looks great on it. Max brightness is level 50 and very bright. I use 10 for normal viewing and 20 for gaming.

Only thing I don't like about it is dark corners (vignetting).

Is there a better deal for a 65in with 120hz right now? What is the closest Samsung or LG model to the x85J?

There's also a 10% Chase offer for Best Buy to stack for those that were targeted.

How is this model different from XBR55X81CH which is available in Costco?

it should be noted that Sony did send a firmware update out to add VRR support after the Rtings review. Rtings has not gotten around to testing it after the update, yet. These sets do have VRR now.
How do one know that they have VRR?

Anyone have thoughts between this and the x90j? Looking at the 75" x90cj at costco for $1699, wondering if the prices will come down before the superbowl.
I own the X90J, bought it because of the better local dimming capabilities and internal speaker system. I'll say that the local dimming is very hit and miss, I watch movies with subtitles and often notice a halo emitting from the words on the screen; especially against a black background. However, the audio on the X90J is stellar. I don't use a soundbar and don't feel the need to.

That model has native 60hz refresh rate. Other difference in quality probably down the line.

120hz refresh rate. However, there can be an issue with these chips so enable and check it when you get it.
rtings said 120Hz 4K still not displaying right as of Nov. 24. Not sure if that's been fixed yet.

If you don't mind HiSense the U8G is better but $200 more.

If Sony has fixed 120Hz 4K and added VRR, this deal gets pretty good.

Is this better then a U8G?
Scores 7.5 vs 8.4 for the U8G at rtings.

I worry a little about reliability with the Hisense, but then my 6 year old Sony X810C has an issue where it won't turn on sometimes until you unplug it. That makes me nervous.

Closest Samsung would be the Q70A. As for LG... I would say the X85J is positioned between the NANO85 and NANO90... probably a bit closer to the NANO90.

I bought this TV last year and had to return to Costco. Sounds starting going in/out within a month. I would need to fully power cycle the TV down before getting sound back. It's probably still worth the risk at $800 but I would buy this in store so if you have any issues, easy return.
