I own this monitor. And while it is excellent, I think this sale price should really be the everyday price. $480 is absurd.
On a side note, if you do end up purchasing this monitor there have been many online complaints about the brightness and that is because Samsung defaults one of the settings to Eco mode and it's buried and hard to find.
Ridiculous comment.

Additional $45 savings with perks@work at Samsung website , Ordered two with the help of a friend, saved about $100. Sweet deal 😀
Confirmed it is $45 less at perks at work but unfortunately out of stock there. I told them to notify me when back in. If I can get two for $235 each with the ability to use accumulated points which gaining points towards a future purchase, that would be a win. Also, not sure if that perks version is speakers or not.
Most people here are missing the main selling point of this monitor -- USB-C with 90W PD charging!
That means you can connect to your laptop (PC or MacBook) with one cable and charge your laptop and get a really nice, sharp external screen PLUS a 3-port USB-A hub (ports on the back of the monitor).
There are other better choices for gaming, but this monitor was designed for productivity and it doesn't disappoint (after making changes to fix screen brightness).
HINT: The USB ports default to USB 2.0 speeds. Go into menu/SYSTEM and change the USB to "Fast". Still gets 4K/60Hz display. Not sure why they even have the choice.
How does it compare to, this another best buy 28", whose retail price is $100 cheaper (not sure why) but the sale price is the same: $279. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6386391
I looked into it more and found out that the other one is LCD (not LED) may be that's the main reason the other one is cheaper. Though thisLED one doesn't have Sync, not sure if that's a bad thing.

Confirmed it is $45 less at perks at work but unfortunately it WAS out of stock there. I told them to notify me when back in. I got multiple e-mails that it was back in stock but each time I checked it was out again. Eventually I was able to order two.
I got two for $235.19 +tax each with the ability to use accumulated points for $20 back and earned enough points for another $20 on a future purchase.
1800R curved 40" is perfect for 4k without scaling. 34" is the minimum. That's my conclusion after going through around 5 4k monitors since 2017 and my vision is 20/20.
Does a curved 40" 4k exist? Would love that, 32" 4K is a bit tough on unix which I can't scale (using ETX remote connection)
Picked one of these up. The high pitch whine from the usb hub is maddening. Also, while the speakers sound OK, you can't control the volume from the OS volume controls, you have to use the dinky buttons under the monitor. But really, the whine is the deal breaker, back in the box!
How does this compare to the Samsung UR55 aside from having built-in speakers?
I had a UR55 and I returned it. I had a coil buzz issue where if the brightness was set on anything but lowest setting there would be an audible whine that got quite loud. I was planning on returning it and asking them to reorder it for me but the guy at Best Buy nodded when I returned it and said "I've seen a lot of these returned". I asked if it was the monitor I had in particular and he said he didn't know but he's processed a lot of Samsung monitor returns of late so I decided to just get my money back instead of getting a new one, installing it, finding out it had coil whine and then having to repackage it and bring it back to the store.
Do anyone know if this one suffers from coil whine?

Hah goes to show I should read to the end of the thread before posting. Ok glad I didn't buy this. I guess I'll wait for a non Samsung monitor deal. That coil buzz is just a no go.
I kept this for a couple more days just to see if could get over the whine. Other problems with this thing:
- The included usb-c cable is insultingly short.
- It only turns the usb-c power on if the monitor is turned on, so you can't leave a laptop plugged into it to charge
- Two days in a row it has just refused to power on without being unplugged from the wall and plugged back in
This has to be one of the worst consumer products I've ever used. I assume no one at Samsung has ever actually used this monitor for more than a day.
Just received it from BH Photo and the advice on turning off Eco Sensor Mode is spot on as the screen looks dim while it's on but good when it's off. Don't hear the whine that's being mentioned.
I plugged an iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen into the display's USB-C port and the display looks great but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get sound from either the iPad Pro or the Samsung monitor. I was playing an iMovie file with sound just fine on the iPad Pro but once I connect it to the Samsung, the sound drops out.

I wish this was the speakers version.
