But it seems this sucker is divisive as hell. Half the people hate it cause it doesn't work, the other half love it cause it does lol. Seen this not just in the slickdeals forums, but bbq forums also

I do elaborate cooks in my Breville Air toaster oven. Another reason these work well with kitchen ovens and toaster ovens is because ovens have a front glass door that, unlike metal, does not block radio frequency waves used by bluetooth. So you can put the bamboo base anywhere roughly perpendicular to the glass and have a good signal link to the thermometer.
With this woot model (original meater) you would still have distance problems between the bamboo base and your phone. Would probably still have to use a spare mobile device placed beside bamboo base to make a link to your phone. At least it would be a wifi link at that point so you could be anywhere.

HOWEVER, the product I received has been kept in a bad condition, and is not usable (mold & rust all over the product) It was so bad that I had to wear gloves to put them in a trash bag until I can solve out the problem.
In all fairness, I contacted Woot and Meater. Haven't heard back from Woot, but Meater says they'll get back to me within 3 days.
In all of online shopping experiences, this is definitely a memorable one. 😱
