This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

nod We are doing stickers with Soph and it is working pretty well. She is a bit older and so we explained to her that she will get a big toy when she is done "trainin" (that is what she calls it laugh out loud) so she is excited for that. We are not so excited for that now that her uncle convinced her she wanted a damn pony or a unicorn for her big toy Annoyed Now she tells everyone when she is done "trainin" and wears panties all the time, she gets a pony Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Damn uncles....
My dad told my daughter when she collected four horseshoes she will be able to get a horse!

Do you know how many times I had to misplace horseshoe number two??? Smilie

Let me tell you she was told this at the age of 4 and she still remembers it today!!
Yes she has a horse, actually has two. One in WI and one in Oregon.

Can anyone help a desperate girl out? I just bougt a used mini van that turned out to be a real piece of crap, I have had it only since Friday and it has all sorts of problems.

Does anyone have a carfax acct that you could pull a report for me? I would be most appreciative, will rep and send you some coupon goodness.

Thanks
Stormy, go to http://www.justanswer.com/ and set up an account.

This is a great site where you can ask questions about just about anything and get responses by professionals in their area of expertise. When my car was in mechanic hell for almost a month I found this website, paid $15 for an answer (you can pay whatever you want - I thought $15 was more than fair for relief of a month's worth of car aggravation), gave the advice rec'd from the certified Lexus Master Mechanic to my "shop guy" and that was the fix he needed. I was amazed - absolutely amazed that "a guy on the computer" could offer such sound advice based on some simple info that worked. The thing is, you put some cash on an account, let's say, $15. You don't "release" the payment to the person until the question is answered to your satisfaction. In other words, if they don't respond, they don't get paid. You lose nothing.

Alternately, there may be a mechanic on that site that can offer some guidance on practical repairs for whatever your issues are with the "new" van.

Good luck!!

I remembered this thread from when we were looking at used cars for DS17. Maybe someone there can help???

So sorry you purchased problems. We looked at a really nice older BMW 5 series, price was low for the mileage and model, but was more car than DS needs to be driving, think DH envisioned "sharing" it.... anyway we had our mechanic check it out and it had some big time problems. Of course that is no guarantee, they failed to list the fact there was a check engine light on.

You may want to back off and wait until he is closer to 3. I know some boys are ready earlier, but based on my (admittedly limited) experience and the boys at my son's preschool, it's not too common for them to PT much before 3.

BTW, my standing offer is a jamba juice for DS if he makes it through the week at preschool with no accidents. You've gotta find out what motivates your little dude and run with it!
Smilie

As I've said before, friends don't let friends buy diapers Secret
I agree. My son (who is now 6) was about 3 1/2 when i tried to potty train him (to start preschool). He LOVED (i mean, LOVED) thomas the train. He wanted this water tower thingy and it was expensive (to me, for what it was) so i bought it and left it in the box on the back of the toliet. He was not even phased by it. Mad He finally learned and it was fine.

But, it's true....when they are ready, they are READY. I am not pushing my daughter (3) at all and figure when the time comes it will come.

ETA: Oh, almost forgot.....my son was potty trained in about a week or so and all was fine. BUT....still in pull ups at night. I did not mind that at all and had no problems with that. I figure it's easier than buying a new mattress (he he) so, one day (last year) he said, "Mom, I don't want to wear pull ups anymore. I want to wear underpants to bed." WHAT?! All I could think of was well....guess we'll be buying a new mattress tomorrow. I kid you not......has not had one accident in over a year now.

We used stickers as motivation. For every "pee pee yaaaa", he gets a sticker. He LOVES stickers. If he tells us in advance that he has to go, he may get an extra few minutes of his cars movie or something too. We found incentives as a great motivator. I'm definitely going to move to daytime underwear in a couple of weeks when he's not out of the house and see how it goes.

Try the huggies pull ups with cars on them, those hold so much more IMO

Or he may just not be ready yet. Mine turned 2 in January as well and if I would have tried then it wouldn't have worked. Every kid is ready in their own time.

But try motivation. Extra something. A book he wants. Hot wheels.
My DS is 17 so it has been awhile, but I do treasure a Mother's Day card he dictated when he was maybe 3 and a half that says " I love my Mommy because she makes me cookies and claps when I go potty.". I kept it in my office for years although it did get a little embarrassing when he was 9 or so and someone would read it and "oh, how cute, how old is he?". The corollary was that once when he was "trainin", I picked him up at day care and needed to go before we hit the road for errands and he clapped for me!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone! I asked him one more time today if he wanted to wear his big boy underwear and he said "No, I'm a baby." That and the advice from all of you tells me he's not ready yet. Smilie My DD is 15, so this is like having your first all over again - wasn't sure on timelines, but I'm fine with waiting. I have enough diapers/pullups to stop a flooding river, anyway!

My mom lives alone now and spends a lot of time trading jokes with all her friends online. So thanks for the Retired Husband and The Cruise, both were right up her alley. She sent me this one....

The body builder takes off his shirt, and the blonde says,
"What a great chest you have!"

He tells her, "That's 100 lbs. of dynamite, Baby."

He takes off his pants, and the blonde says, "What massive calves you have!"

The body builder tells her, "That's 100 lbs. of dynamite, baby."

He then removes his underwear, and the blonde goes running out of the apartment screaming in fear.

The body builder puts his clothes back on and chases after her. He catches up to her and asks why she ran out of the apartment like that.

The blonde replies " I was afraid to be around all that dynamite after I saw how short the fuse was!"
