I always tell DH that we are going to have the cool house so that all the kids will want to come play here. I agree 100% with your ways. All sleepovers will be at our house and hopefully most of the playing will be done here too. I can remember which houses I wanted to go play at (especially in the high school years!) cause their parents weren't home or just didn't care.
Not happening with my children!!!
I appreciate your posts - even the scary ones! I know there is a lot to be afraid of out there and it's a tough balancing act to not over-protect and still allow creative freedom... most kids turn out ok despite our actions - I just feel horrible for those who don't have parents that care enough to even want to over-protect, kwim? Here's to all the moms (and dads) on this board!!! It's obvious we all care enough to make the effort to save a few bucks to help make our families lives a little easier - couponing isn't always the easiest or the most fun (at least not for me, remember, I hate shopping!) Because the sun is shining in a clear blue sky but the electricity in my neighborhood is out so I can't even make myself a cup of joe while I read aimlessly on my laptop - outside, in the clear of day. In other news... found out today I'm having a girl.
We live in the country. My kids *could* easily play outside by themselves. We even have a fenced in yard. My 13 year old rolls his eyes when they go outside and I open the windows to I can see and hear them. I say, what if a snake bites you or you fall and hit your head and can't cry for help. He thinks I'm a total psycho.
My sister caught the bus with a little boy , Justin Turner. He didn't catch the bus one morning. Police drained my parents pond and searched his parents house and camper. Nothing...
Then a few days later, searched the camper again. Found his strangled, molested body in the same camper they searched a few days earlier! They think he had been frozen or something because his body was very cold and well preserved. Step mom was person of interest...best part....to this day NO ONE has been arrested and it's been over 20 years
The bad part about being divorced is that the oldest goes to his Dads and has one helluva time. He gets to do whatever he wants and no amount of bickering with Dad will change, he just skirts around it. He wants to be his "friend".
When he remarried, his new wifey stepped waaay over her stepmom boundaries. My son came home a few years ago and said he tried a Jeigerbomb with her while Daddy was at work (Red Bull and Jeigermeister) He was 8 years old.
WHAT?! Here I was 9 months pregnant and opened a huge can of whoop a$$ on her. I also went to jail. For future reference, it is illegal to threaten someones life over the telephone. It is literally called "Misuse of the telephone". Also for future reference, jail is the sucks. I love living in a small town though. Some old high school buddies who worked at the detention center got me up for the next bond hearing and I was out in a few hours, but damn that was nasty.
Still fighting the good fight, but he hates being here cause "I'm like a warden"

I am supposed to go to the dentist at 11 for a cleaning. They just sent me a bill from Sept of 08 that says I owe $471. I had a full onlay as I had a filling go bad and the tooth cracked. They got pre-approval for the onlay and I paid over $500 at the time for the portion that insurance wouldn't cover. Now 9 mos later they are telling me that insurance only covered $181 of my treatment. Trust me I would NOT have had that treatment done here had I known that I would pay nearly $1000 oop for it. I would have most certainly gone to Mexico. Now, I get to bark at my insurance and figure out what exactly the dentist had pre-approved. The dental office stated that insurance didn't cover it because it was procelein. I am more than slightly

I do remember someone posting that their codes were canceled a while back, but I hadn't heard of anyone else since. I know I turned all mine into Fandango at least a few months or so before the October deadline (when the Ponds ticket said it had to be used by). I think as soon as I redeemed my Ponds codes I turned them into Fandago bucks right away and didn't wait if I remember correctly, so it would have been more the end of July or so. Whatever the deadline to enter ponds codes was is when I got my Fandango bucks. I also did mine in a few days and didn't do any after that.
I thought the person who posted that their codes got cancelled redeemed much nearer to the end of the October deadline, and that they had also redeemed some a few months back. So at least for the last of their codes they would have redeemed the Ponds codes by the July (?) deadline, but didn't turn them into Fandango bucks right away. Maybe Ponds had figured something out close to the end, and went to see who recently redeemed a lot?? Not sure, but I hope mine stay alright.
