This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

The person did tell me they will be doing a test in MN for coupons loaded to cell phones. That is a good thing because you can stack paper coupons on top of those at other stores. So another way to get some extra savings.
Can you do that with a pre-paid cell - like net10 phones?

He is a young 5 - turned 5 July 11th. So ank220, yes, we have considered that maybe he's not ready socially. Academically, he is 100% ready. So when the preschool teacher, pediatrician, and now the social worker at the new school tell me he is ready for kindergarten and we agree as his parents, we feel we made the right choice. They are learning colors this week...the social worker said on Friday he already knew all his colors and seemed a little bored like why am I here?

Daddy took him today and while he was apprehensive, he went in without a fight. I really think it has a lot to do with his separation anxiety issues with me. So we'll keep having Daddy take him for as long as is needed and then transition over to me. He even asked me to take him today and promised he wouldn't cry when I left, but as we know, kids can't be trusted! laugh out loud So I just Pray that it continues to get better. He is more like me than I ever realized.
Smilie Well, that is the important part. Like I said - I was totally butting in and not knowing the full situation. Sounds like you've got it handled with Dad taking him though. Sometimes kids just know how to get at mom's hearts.

Very sorry to hear about that! I pray hubby gets a new job very soon.

Hey Mofo,

Even if he is just 5, I kind of think that he is bored.
Had that problem with oldest dd. Thankfully, we've been able to homeschool for the majority of her schooling - and that has made a huge difference.

Is it just me, or has it been boring lately? Maybe Im missing something. *shrug*

ETA: Just had an idea - maybe with the new "auto" update we'll fit into size 01's...

hug Thanks guys. After taking a deep breath and doing a bit of research on unemployment, I think we will be okay. Not great, but okay....and "okay" is better than some have it so we are counting our blessings.

Ryland cried today too. It was heart wrenching. So I went to Target Teehee and got a dry erase board. There is no pic available on Target.com , but it is a simple board with big blocks for Monday-Friday and a small strip of cork at the bottom. It is 7.5"x20"
I was thinking it would be easy and not as "busy" as the larger boards and Ryland knows his days of the week. So maybe on the days with no tears we can draw a big smiley face and Matt and the older boys can act thrilled when they see that Ryland didn't cry. Plus we can write great notes or things that the teacher said like "Ryland tried his turkey and cheese sandwich today" (which actually happened thanks to Sharon Big Grin)

The dry erase board was on sale for $6.28 just in case anyone else needs one.

*my store doesn't have any umbrellas or raincoats for kids??? I was mostly looking for an umbrella but still...that's weird.

Pray for just a little bit longer to enjoy my Target fun before any crazy updates.

His boss is super nice and a real family oriented man with young kids. He felt awful about having to let people go and he tried everything to keep him. He said it was one of the hardest things he had to do because they are actually friends. Nothing he could do, but he did give Matt some time (2 weeks) to find another job or apply for unemployment. He has 3 more people to let go...

I see your stories and my heart goes out to those of you laid off or with DH's laid off. It's one of those things that doesn't feel real until it happens to you.
Comfort So sorry that happened! And yes, I can relate. I remember thinking "the economy hasn't really affected us all that much" and then BAM! But even with that, it still hasn't affected us all that much in terms of our spending thanks be to coupons! laugh out loud I hope he finds something else soon! It's a jungle out there. Did I ever mention that I work in a Career Center? You would think I would have some secret jobs or tricks to help my own DH!

Quote from Devilmomma :
mofome, so sorry to hear about the troubles with your lil guy! It breaks your heart when that happens. I went through similar issues with both of my kids when they started pre-school, so I know what you're going through (yes, even the tossing of furniture around the room w/ DD). All I can say is that it WILL get better...hopefully sooner rather than later. hug :hug hug

PS. Glad to hear it went better w/ daddy dropping him off.
Thanks, that is so reassuring to hear. DH pointed out a girl that was struggling to go in to school today to my son and said "see you can help her feel better and tell her it's going to be ok".

Hey Mofo,

Even if he is just 5, I kind of think that he is bored. Learning colors? I hardly think my DS is a genius, but he certainly knows his colors. He will be starting K next year when he is 5 and that will be his first school experience and if they are just learning colors, we too will have problems.
I know! I don't know what can be done about this though. They are wearing a different color each day of the week for the next couple of weeks. My almost 3 yo knows his colors! It's so frustrating!

Totally agree on the lasting a little bit longer! Especially now that we *need* to stockpile!

We have a chart that I got on clearance at Target for the same purpose. They are also sending home a smiley face chart from school each day so we'll know how he did.

Umbrellas and raincoats: I've only seen them on endcaps in the baby section.

Speaking of updates.....I noticed in the Target deals, whenever I saw Crazy's posts, there was a blue flag near her name that said OP.

Then, I saw a post in Publix and next to eFelicity it was a black flag that said F for Friend.

Guess they are doing some changes around here?

I will know more later this week on that. I think they said there is a barcode sticker that goes on the phone and they scan that.

Mine were still at 30%. When I was checking out, the cashier said check back tomorrow (Wednesday) so who knows. There isn't much left here at all. Tons of the 3 pack composition book...I mean TONS. Other than that, some folders, lunchboxes, etc.

ETA~ the Duggars are expecting their 19th child. I've had 4 kids and still "got it" Wink but after 19, do you think she's a tad wore out?

They sell these rum cakes at certain Publix's by us. Not all of them though.

There are 3 different flavors and they are sooo yummy. If you have even been to the Bahamas, these are straight from there.
