This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Just ordered 6 pairs of men's shorts, one of those crazy big paperclip desktop things (had to have one), 2 beautiful watches and a Dyson Animal all for $542 delivered (free) from Kohls. That's less than the price of the Dyson alone. Granted, no giftcard and I'll have to pay real cash, but I'm cool with that. Still saved over $200 overall [from the overpriced retail prices, that is Smilie ]. Love the Kohls thread.

Oh, but I am having it delivered to my sister's house in Florida. Um, I live in Chicago. Doh. Need to get ahold of them to fix that.... wasn't really paying very good attention when I placed that order. LMAO

Update: No longer LMAO. That order is already in fulfillment and will be shipped to my sister. I should say, my sister's OLD address. She no longer lives at the address my $500 order is going to. Double Doh Doh!!! Will have to report this one lost or stolen. Sigh.....

I don't understand this. Seriously.. and I'm not being critical of anyone or trying to be mean or anything like that, because we are all free to buy whatever we want, wherever we want. It's what makes America great. laugh out loud And it's what makes SD great! woot

But I have seen this several times over the past few weeks. People jump on the bandwagon of "whatever" is hot at that time. Sippy cups, Tags, Little Coupes, bicycles.. whatever. Then, they post, "And I don't have any kids this young. Why did I buy these Sippy Cups?" Or they post "And I don't have any little boys at my house. Why did I buy this little boy's bike..?" It isn't like they are buying it to garage sale or whatever. There seems to be no reason whatsoever that they purchased it, they do it just "because" it was hot/cheap/sought after.

Can anyone explain this to me..? I could understand it - if they said "I can give it to my nephew for his birthday!" or "I can donate it to my daycare!" or "I can sell it at my garage sale!". But no reason whatsoever for buying it..? Do you guys do this, maybe with the intention of finding something to do with the object later on..?

Why do u think most people join SD? They have a shopping addiction Roll

Honestly, people shop in general because endorpins are released. When people find a good deal they get a rush of endorphins. Kinda like ladies that will buy a dress 2 sizes too small...because it was 50 or 75% off...not because they will ever fit into it.

True. Story.

All this time, I'm thinking Barney Fife (Deputy in Mayberry). I thought ya'll had a thing for Mayberry! Tomato

Damn I'm S L O W! (Is there a Brain Slow Smiley here?)

I'm thinking this must have something to do with the receptionist in our building who thinks she's part of security (NOT!). So much so that we changed her last name to Fife within the building, but she has no clue.

I don't have boys, but I have nephews and we also donate to toy drives for Christmas. So I do tend to buy *some* stuff that we don't use/need - if I can find it, that is... *shrug*

I think some people just buy stuff to buy stuff. Seriously. I think there was a recent discussion of hoarders - true hoarders. Folks that buy stuff and keep stuff. It's kind of a sickness. My mother would fall into this category. She constantly says, "It was on sale..." or "It was only .50..." But, come property tax time... Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) She has more clothing than she could ever wear - even if she changed outfits every hour. She has more glass type dishes and oddities than she could ever display, more canned food than she could ever eat - and she still gets more at every opportunity. We tried to clean her house up several times. One time, we actually had 2 dumpsters set outside the house - big, construction site sized dumpsters. We threw out a total of 4 dumpsters of stuff - and had not made a dent. My mother acted like it was the end of the world and things were being stolen from her. This was just the garbage - mind you - boxes, broken things, etc... It's nuts. She had asked for help, but then balked when it came. We gave up, and we've all considered donating the house to the fire department for a controlled burn if it never gets clean before she passes. Morbid, I suppose, but extremely overwhelming to behold.

I also think some folks just get off on getting something that others don't. Kind of like a "ha ha, I got one and you didn't..."

And then, there is the thrill of getting a really good deal on things - and then the sudden realization that it's not such a good deal if you don't use it or have anyone to give it too. I think this is what newbies tend to fall into. You get excited to get deals that you had never found before, and wonder at all the $$ you've wasted over your lifetime.

I don't have little ones anymore WALOS. However, I do have 3 G'baby's to buy for. I have learned to choose what I go after though, I'm not running to T everyday or twice a day like some of them do to chase a clearance deal. I have much better things to do with my time.

I would like to find a Tag Tomato for my youngest G' Baby but I'm not going to run all over town looking for it. If I happen to come across one clearanced I will get it.

Ank has a good point about the n00bs. They are getting a deal and realize it's a thrill and look at all the money they've wasted over the years.

For a lot of people it is a sickness. I totally agree with that.

That makes sense.. Frown I know it can be overwhelming and exciting to start realizing how cheap you can get stuff. I make it a point to ask myself "What will I do with this?" If I can't come up with a good answer, I don't buy it. Because, let's face it: (100 items you don't use) X (paying 75% off for each one) still = (that 25% money out of your pocket), you know?

I know a lot of people use the items for their own kids and grandkids. But some people seem to have no idea what to do with it, but buy it anyway. Just curious about that..

I realized once I got to the store that the 3.00 is for laundry detergent. I used the 2.00 instead. Not the best trip. Should have known not to use the Revlon q Mad
