Thanks OP, in for one, repped. This now completes the Cherry Klipsch Reference Premiere 5.0 setup.

The Klipsch RP Cherry Combo (The Color That No One Wants - All Newegg ShellShocker or promo prices):
  • Klipsch RP-250C (this deal) Center Channel Speaker $149
  • Klipsch RP-160M Monitor Speakers (pair) $249
  • Klipsch RP-260F Floorstanding Speaker (each) $249 x 2 = $498
With all the ShellShocker deals from Newegg lately, this price and the others above beat the RP bundle / combo posted by sr71 on 1/11/2022, total difference between the bundle and individual deals: $1026 minus $896 = $130.

Home theater noob here. I was eyeing those JBL 570s as my first speaker pieces and then a subwoofer. Is a center speaker really necessary if I am starting out? Still need to find a receiver too.

For music? No, for movies and tv shows then for sure. Get one of equal power, I mixed this one with some stronger Klipsch speakers and it gets drown out.

I was looking to get this JBL Studio 570 150W Dual 5-1/4" Floorstanding Loudspeaker. The center speaker spec sheet says 100w/400w (cont/peak) so I guess I should pass on this? I'm not sure how I should be reading it.

Tempted to pick one up to replace my rp440c, I love it, but it's so god damn big. It takes up the whole top of my tv stand.

This would fit IN my stand, and I could drop my tv down a couple inches.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth replacing my RC62ii with the RP250c. I'm sure I could recover the $150 selling the RC62. hmmmmm

it is THE most important speaker for watching TV/movies. 95% of your dialog comes through the center channel. if there's one speaker you don't go cheap on, it's center.

Can I buy 2 and use as fronts? Currently I'm using the rp-150. If these works as fronts then that would be an upgrade right?

Would you say this is a higher priority to get than the JBL 570s? Then after that a subwoofer?

Depends on use. If you're listening to music, center channel isn't as important and I'd grab the 570s first. But if your system is primarily for TV/movies, I'd prioritize center channel over everything

You have to be careful when u do mix and matching. Different speakers have different sound profile. This can affect your experience drastically (sometimes in a bad way)

the power is supplied by your AVR, not the speaker. the power rating on speakers is meaningless. they work fine with 1 watt or 1,000. what can make a difference is the speaker sensitivity, but that gets automatically adjusted by the calibration software when you do your room setup. and can be adjusted manually later on if you need to boost or lower any channel.
