Product Info:
Climb in the TARDIS for the adventure of a lifetime with this enormous Doctor Who collection featuring every episode of the first two Doctors of the modern era, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. Alongside companions Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), Martha Jones and others, it's a non-stop thrill ride as the Doctors battle all the evil forces of the universe including Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, and much more.
It's a dumpster fire now. Some try to blame it on the casting of Jodie Whittaker but in my opinion it's just bad writing and directing. Plus it really started going down hill hard during the Peter Capaldi years.
Both actors are quite good on their own standing but with this show they are not. It now feels like watching a forced SJW lecture for an hour every week. The show was always progressive, and that is fine, but when it feels like a lecture I am not interested.
It currently has the lowest ratings ever and rotten tomatoes audience score of about 15% the last time I checked. Don't remember if that score is just for this last season or the show overall.
Wish it was in HD. Have HBO max so can watch it there thankfully as long as their contract keeps them there. Thanks for the deal!
I felt the same way about Matt Smith. Eventually I adjusted to him and he's probably my favorite of the new doctors now. The other poster is right, it went downhill with Capaldi.

I saw the recent news. RTD coming back to Who, and rumors that Tennant may come back now...but it would be a strange precedent for a Doctor to reincarnate into a form they once had before and have it aged. And considering we're dealing with a Davies that hasn't had much going on for a decade plus, either his return will get Who back on track to being good again or not.
But IMO, marrying RTD and an older Tennant as creative partners for bringing Who back just exudes prime Who quality in hindsight.
I watched Doctor Who as a kid, and a couple of years ago caught up and watched most of the newer episodes ... and as many here, Eccleston and Tennant I found generally okay, Smith... eh... some okay episodes, a lot of not so okay episodes. Overall I found his version of the Doctor too goofy for my tastes. As for Capaldi, I liked him in the role, it's just that the writing was pretty bad.
That said, I found Heaven Sent w/ Capaldi one of , if the not best, episode of Who I have seen. So for those skipping over Capaldi, I'd say at least just watch that single episode.
And the Tennant news is interesting if true. I sort of wondered if they'd ever bring him back, but not as the proper "Doctor', but instead as a side character ... as if I recall correctly, isn't there a version of him in half-human form w/ Rose roaming about in a different universe, or something like that? It'd also make sense then for him to have aged.

It absolutely astounds me that "SD" is still used to refer to 480p. Going by actual marketshare 1080p has been the de facto Standard Definition going on 10 years at this point. 4K accounted for > 50% of new TV sales for the past two years.

Not even the people who agree politically want to be lectured to when they watch TV/movies. People want to be entertained, that's it.

This a thousand times. It's great that it is progressive but heavy handed sermons suck. Jody has moments of awesome then the writing takes a term and we're back in the suck. She has been poorly ised as a talented actress. It gets annoying with both sides trying to push their pokitical agenda saying why the show does or doesn't suck. Its bad writing on progressive topics where before it was good writing on sometimes progressive topics.
