Wyze Cam v3 + Cam Plus
$30.14
The Cam Plus is only a 3-month subscription, so it's more like a trial.

Found this review on Amazon:
The description insists that a subscription isn't need. Technically, that is true.
In practice, you will probably need one. Without a subscription, it will record a 12 second video every 5 minutes due to motion. That won't get you very far. There is no limit with a subscription.
None of this is mentioned in the product description. Waiting 5 minutes between recording is horrible.

I think I will just pass this one.

Only 3 month subscription free not the full year, but yes for $30 For the cam is a good deal in my opinion. My v3 are horrible in total darkness but with a porch light or ambient lights like my landscape lighting make them usable. I can't speak for how well the spot light works, not sure if it needs its own power supply, but if it needs a separate power outlet supply what a pain in the rear end for my use. Thanks for pointing that out I will pick up another camera only

I want to get this, but I can't get my echo show to show my current wyze cameras. I tried just about everything (disabling the wyze skill, uninstalling the apps, etc). Anyone have any advice or tricks? It says live feed not supported in my alexa app, next to the camera names, for my v2 and v3 wyze cameras.
All my cameras show up fine with echo show 8

Can you view it live when it alerts you with or without SD card?

I use wyze v3, rtsp, with frigate for AI detection. Works wonderfully if available I'd recommend it.

Can Wyze be used as a regular camera? Awhile back you could load a custom firmware, is that still a thing?

Was looking for an additional temporary indoor camera but want something small and simple I could put on wifi for active monitoring, not recording.

it indicates indoors and outdoors

The camera itself is Indoor/outdoor, though you'll probably have to figure out how to run the cable inside since it's just a USB cable that plugs into a brick that isn't weather resistant. It does have If LEDs, but you don't usually need them unless there is almost no light. The low-light performance really is some of the best I've seen without IR.
Any way to install them against a window for outdoor use, to avoid having to deal with running wires inside, or would the window reflect the IR back and ruin the image? And without the IR, could it work this way, or would the window still create problems with outside images?

Also, as others have asked, any way to use this as a "dumb" camera, without the SW and platform of your choice? Or is it tied to this company and their SW? If the latter, what are decent comparable low-light camera for "dumb" use?

Once the manufacturers stopssupporting/updating their apps to comply with iOS and Android OS requirements, you are left with a paperweight as this requires connecting via a "corporate" app and not connected directly to the camera. Bad design.

For Apple systems? They didn't the last time I checked.

What does the light plug into? I have the oldschool cams so I only know of one plug in spot.

You can flash these with RTSP firmware and use your own NVR if you want.
