I have a couple this purchased within the last 3-5 years at $6-$7 each. It works well. The design of the switch is to avoid plugging and unplugging. When you have more than one device, you need to trace each cable is for which device after unplug. With a switch, you just put a label on it or remember which port. I use it to turn off a webcam and a microphone whenever I don't need it.

by that logic, all tv's should have 1 hdmi port?

I'm kind of a stickler for having my wires arranged properly and hidden from view. It triggers some sort of OCD tendencies when it doesn't look perfect. So something like this is perfect for me.

As the post says... It doesn't support charging or anything that requires power because these are unpowered USB...

10$ is not a deal considering its unpowered.. most people will plug in their phone and wonder why its not charging... or other peripherals that need power.
Will it pass power thru or limit to 0.5 amp at 5v? Want to use for turning off rasperry pi.

(And to avoid the joke causing confusion, the cable on the device is advertised as being two feet long.

From reading the reviews and answers to the questions it appears it will change phones at normal speed or slower, no quick charging. Also, the power going out seems limited so if more than one thing is connected that needs power it will charge slower or not at all. Plus, if the power draw is to much it could cause problems for the other devices.

For my purposes, it is nice that it can be used for occasional charging since I am not planning on connecting storage devices. If the webcam or mic is not working properly I can just make sure my phone is not the problem.

Others can address whether charging a phone while using a storage device could cause issues.

I purchased this model a few years ago and buttons just stopped working one by one until the entire thing was dead. Lasted maybe 6 months with not a lot of toggling

There's also a powered version, but it doesn't appear to be on sale and it costs twice as much

I've had one of these since 2019. I use it on the daily for my studio monitors, controllers, and external storage. Works great. Paid $8.99 on Prime Day 2019. I need another for another use, and with the coupon comes to $10.64. That seems reasonable to me!

No idea, mine is perfect as Today. bought 3-4 ish years ago for $4.. something
I did a lot of toggling the button but not abuse it by pressing hard hah....

if your button broke, it is easy to fix if you having basic soldering skill. it is generic push on-off switch, where can buy easily.

I am happy with this, having external usb-audio dongle for my linux workstation, when not needed, just turn it off instead pluging off or in..

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank Oil_Burner

One more thing to remember, the switches only disconnect power and NOT the data connections. If a device is externally powered, the switch is meaningless. I learned when my headphone DAC (ext powered) had no impact with any state of the switch.

I have a couple that work flawlessly for the last 2 years. Again, I don't use it like a piano.

The one that I have has an optional barrel jack power input of 5V. I have tried it and works just fine in case the computer does not supply enough juice to power devices.
