I have a couple this purchased within the last 3-5 years at $6-$7 each. It works well. The design of the switch is to avoid plugging and unplugging. When you have more than one device, you need to trace each cable is for which device after unplug. With a switch, you just put a label on it or remember which port. I use it to turn off a webcam and a microphone whenever I don't need it.

I'm kind of a stickler for having my wires arranged properly and hidden from view. It triggers some sort of OCD tendencies when it doesn't look perfect. So something like this is perfect for me.

Better never buy anything again because it used to be cheaper.

I use to pay $0.25/gallon of gas. Damn your inflation!!!
Did you pay $0.25/gallon for gas two years ago? If not, what's your point?

How would that be useful when you can just unplug it from the hub instead
I've used a similar one for several years with a docking station for a laptop. If you have several devices plugged into it on a mostly permanent basis (headset, web cam, etc.), the buttons save the hassle of fumbling with cables in order to turn these devices on and off, which I do on daily basis. Maybe it is an atypical use case, but I find it very useful.

As the post says... It doesn't support charging or anything that requires power because these are unpowered USB...

10$ is not a deal considering its unpowered.. most people will plug in their phone and wonder why its not charging... or other peripherals that need power.
Got links to ones that are USB 3, with 4 ports, and each port has an on/off (or enable/disable depending on your mindset) button for $10 or less?

There's also a powered version, but it doesn't appear to be on sale and it costs twice as much

Almost all external hard drives annoyingly lack a power button, so they're spinning full-time if connected (or bouncing between sleep and spinning irregularly). So this is a great way to add back that on/off feature we should have never lost in the usual dumbing down of hardware for stupid people who call tech support freaking out about their hard drive disappearing...
It's exceptionally saddening knowing you're right about the dumbing down of tech to the lowest denominator...

Looking for a solid USB switch so that I could connect the same one or two peripherals to multiple PCs, instead of multiple peripherals to one PC. Do you guys have any exp/recommendation?

According to review questions, it has a jack for external power adapter. (5v, 2.5a?) Anyone confirm this?

Does this split the power of one port to these four ports or does each port get the standard power of the USB bus?

It must split the bandwidth four ways.
