Sony is having a sale on their X80J model (link [sony.com] - defaults to 65" model but they're all 'options' on the same page), standard shipping is Free

Size and corresponding pricing as follows:
43" $449.99 [sony.com]
50" $499.99 [sony.com]
55" $599.99 [sony.com]
65" $749.99 [sony.com]
75" $999.99 [sony.com]
Decent pricing for a decent TV for those who'd prefer to go with a Sony with lower specs than a comparably priced Hisense. Given the 65" X85J is only $50 more on another thread, that's probably not the size to go with, but the 75 or the smaller sized models are decently priced.

Note: We all know these are native 60hz panels despite the confusing MotionFlow XR 240 branding: if you don't like it, move along.

Product Highlights:
  • 4K HDR PROCESSOR X1™ – Powerful TV processing that delivers a picture that is smooth and clear, full of rich colors and detailed contrast.
  • TRILUMINOS PRO™ – Reproduces more colors than a conventional TV resulting in picture quality that is natural and precise, and closer than ever to real life.
  • GOOGLE TV™ – See 700,000+ movies and TV episodes, plus live TV, all in one place. Google TV brings your favorite content from across your apps and subscriptions and organizes them just for you. Watch content from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, the Apple TV app, and many more.
  • MOTIONFLOW XR™ – On-screen motion stays smooth and clear, allowing fast moving sequences in sports, action movies, and games to be seen with lifelike clarity.
  • 4K X-REALITY PRO™ – Our unique 4K database upscales all the HD content you love to near-4K resolution bringing back real-world detail and texture.
  • HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR) & DOLBY Vision™ – Enjoy immersive and engaging cinematic content as the creator intended with HDR and Dolby Vision4
  • GOOGLE ASSISTANT – Use your voice to easily find your favorite movies, shows, and music. Get answers on screen, control smart home devices, and more.
  • APPLE AIRPLAY – Works with AirPlay 2 to easily stream content from your Apple device.
  • ULTRA-SLIM WALL MOUNT COMPATIBLE – Hang your TV like a work of art with the optional SU-WL855 ultra-slim wall-mount bracket available for 55" class, 65" class, and 75" class X80J series TVs.

Agree, or better yet an x90j. But unfortunately their prices on those are no different than most retailers.

Definitely agree if you're looking at the 65" in particular

As someone who has more than one X90J, definitely agree with you there. Prices are holding pretty steady on those however. Perhaps once the 2022 models start rolling out will we see some meaningful movement on the 2021 X90J models.

Agree with the other comments. If you care about picture quality/performance, pass this one up.

H9G tests better in basically every other category but viewing angle and out of box calibration.

How does this compare to Hisense H9G?
TLDR; Hisense H9G is better than the X80J based on rtings reviews:
The Hisense H9G is somewhat better overall than the Sony X900H. The Hisense has a better contrast ratio, gets brighter, has much better reflection handling, and has a quicker response time. That said, the Sony has much better out-of-the-box color accuracy, it's better-built, and it has better gradient handling. (source [rtings.com])
The Sony X80J and the Sony X900H use different panels, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Overall, though, the X900H is a step up from the X80J. The X900H uses a VA panel with a high contrast ratio and full-array local dimming, gets brighter and has more features, and has a slightly faster response time. It also has two HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR support once you update it to its latest firmware. (source [rtings.com])

I'm not seeing any 50" Sony TVs at Costco.com, might they carry TVs in store that aren't listed online? Thanks for any help.

The x85j (50") is on sale for $648 right now. Any thoughts on that price point?

The green site appears to be cheaper. But waiting on whether or not they go lower the closer it gets to superbowl.

Appreciate the response. Can't seem to find what this green site is if you don't mind pointing me in the right direction.

Do you expect Super Bowl deals this week or next week? Not sure how close to the game they push them!
