I have this TV from the last deal at this price. It's a great tv with 1 exception. It's not very bright. I tried it in our living room which is a little bright during the daytime. The only place to set up the TV was across the room from some windows. That condition made for a terrible experience for daytime TV watching. Unless we used room darkening shades it just wasn't worth it to have OLED. Night time it was great. So we relocated the TV to the basement and it awesome down there. With the lights on it's an average TV in the basement. With the lights off it's amazing. I love everything about this TV except for the brightness.

Seems to me if you do a lot of daytime TV watching OLED might not be worth the extra $$. However, night time movies are awesome.

No signs of burn in whatsoever.
No hdmi 2.1, pass!
This is a 2020 model. So it's basically 2 years old now. Not bad. I rather have the LG CX if you're talking about older model and those you can also find for $1500 new. My Costco had the display model LG 65C1 for $1300.

Any benefit to HDMI 2.1 outside of gaming?

Use will be exclusively for sports/movies.

Nope! The new Apple TV 4K supports HDMI 2.1, but as far as I know Apple hasn't unlocked the features yet. Enjoy the A8H, it's a beautiful display.

Your "nope" is not quite true. Dynamic HDR and eARC are both enabled by 2.1 standard. Dynamic HDR is a not-insignificant improvement to PQ. Post you replied to should google both of those to see if they care.

The TV supports eARC and Dynamic HDR by enabling Enchanched in the TV HDMI settings. If you're not gaming then you don't need HDMI 2.1. Eventually HDMI 2.1 will be the standard, but most newer TVs only have two HDMI 2.1 inputs.

I have this display. I can concur with an earlier reviewer about the brightness. The colors definitely don't POP like some of the higher graded LED units. Amazing picture for watching movies and perfect blacks. If I had a do-over, I'd try the Samsung Q80 and see how it looked in my living room.

Also grabbed this TV a few months ago.

Direct sunlight would be an issue for sure, lights not reflecting directly off the screen are fine. Looks pretty amazing in a light controlled room.

If you don't play new consoles and have decent light control TV still seems solid.

It does have EARC.

People need 2.1 to run 8k games on $500 machines to get 20fps lawl.

well, I was kind of waiting for this but this is the first time I've read about the (lack of) brightness issues.

We just moved and put our 2-3 year old Sony 75" 950f over the fireplace in the main room and I think its a little too big. Not to mention we need a real wide viewing angle.

We are ok with the brightness of the LED TV. You think we'd be ok with this in its place?
