Everything you said is legit except that you're making a value judgement (cue Eddie Brock meme) by saying that "People need to stop asking questions on SlickDeals that they can get answers to in under a minute, by doing their own research. ."
That is not a "facts."
When I look for info, often an SD thread will turn up in search results. Hence, it is not just for deals, it is also for research. Especially applicable for things with clandestine or clever uses.
Here's a fact for you: you're a douche

Hmm...I have Persona 5 but not Persona 5 Royal. Is there any upgrade path outside of purchasing the game separately?
Nope. It's a standalone title. They added a new character who appears throughout the regular story, and then added another semester on top of that. Basically another 20 hours or so, extra. You could've just googled that in 30 seconds, instead of asking it here. It's easily worth buying again, though. Even at full price.
You guys can downvote me all you want, but this person could've posted their exact comment in Google and had their answer. People need to stop asking questions on SlickDeals that they can get answers to in under a minute, by doing their own research. I'm not here to sugarcoat things. No one benefits from that. I'm not even being mean, either. I'm stating facts. Facts aren't nice or mean. They're just facts.

Royal is a standalone title. You'll have to play through the original story to get to the meat of the new content in the extra semester but if you don't mind that this is absolutely worth your money. There's a ton of QoL upgrades as well which really streamlines the game.
Fantastic game, if you haven't played P5 then Royal is the one you want to get as it adds a lot of new content and features over the standard version. There's an additional school semester, ammo reloads after a battle instead of every palace, more characters and lots of other great features. I sank around 160 hours into this game and had a blast.
Warning to RPG fans: unlike Zelda, Diablo, Skyrim, or The Witcher, this is a "turn-based" RPG, which means you don't get to control your character during combat. You have to sit back and watch them follow your commands.
Not necessarily a deal-breaker, just realize before you buy that it's a more "relaxing" take-turns game and a little less engaging than normal RPGs
Love this game...maybe someday I'll finish it. Started replaying the Royal edition after I got about halfway through the original edition. And, well, got bored going through the same story again.

Leaving all the childish drama aside. This is an excellent game even if you played the original. The new content goes through the whole game so even at the very beginning of the game you'll see the changes.
