It's a poor-man's Deus Ex. Cyberpunk was a letdown on all fronts. CD Projekt Red royally screwed up.
Been waiting to grab this one but it's been hovering around $17.99. With all the reviews, disappointments & all, I think $9.99 is more fitting.
Unless someone here thinks it's definitely worth at $16.59? Thanks.
Open world mechanics are not good (apart from the visuals) but its the game's story which is the main selling point. The story is just amazing, it's an emotional roller coaster and it's one of the few games where I felt actual attachment to the characters, when/if they would die, it was absolutely devastating.
A lot of people expected a futuristic GTA and that's where they got disappointed. The game's duplicitous marketing didn't help either. Treat this as a story game and you won't be disappointed.

The gameplay is blah. The combat is tedious and repetitive. The characters (except maybe Rocket) don't look or sound anything like the film versions (ironically, I like this Gamora better). The back and forth banter and insults between the characters is the best part, but even that can be repetitive. I hate the QTE that pop up, you have to get the button timing JUST right.... I replayed some missions like 25+ times just to pass a QTE.
There are some really funny moments, but honestly you can watch all that on Youtube if you want.
And most tragically, this game has a great soundtrack.... but you can't really hear the music. There is a jukebox on the Milano where you can play music, but there's always someone talking/yelling at each other over the music. No way to just listen to the soundtrack, sad face.
I went in excited for it and by the end I just wanted it to be OVER. Oh, and the gimmick ending that I won't spoil, but I hated it.

Some tips to enjoying this game...
Never buy guns, you will find the best ones in the game during missions. And bad guys drop guns like crazy... sell those.
DO buy cyberdeck upgrades as soon as possible. More RAM, better attacks, etc
Don't bother with any npc nonsense, just ignore them.
Don't discharge you gun (or accidentally throw a grenade) in public or the cops will be up your ass in a hot second, and the cops are brutal.
Best vehicles are the motorcycles. The cars all handle like shit and just getting from point A to B is a chore. Bikes are way easier to zip around on. Plus you can view in 3rd person mode on a bike, actually one of the few times you get to see your character (and their terrible outfits).
Tons more tips on the net.
This game is pretty long and there are a million side quests. You can just focus on the main story, but you kinda need the side quests to level up.
If your PC has the balls, it can look freaking awesome. It can also look like a potato if you don't. Don't be afraid to stick to 1080p medium if the game is stuttering on you.
