You literally have no idea how hard it is to kill your self with these things. We use this every winter, every day, every year, to supplement our oil furnace. Go back to playing Fortnite son.

Probably zero to none if used as directed.

This looks like a competitor Mr Heater big buddy
Plenty of people use Mr heater in a tent, just make sure you take a Carbon Monoxide Detector and I would keep it placed off the tent with a wood board or something that won't melt or catch fire easily.

Would this be safe to use in or around a tent?
I used my Mr buddy heater a couple of months ago in a tent on a camping trip. It was well below freezing and my tent was like 60 degrees.

I've used the Mr Buddy in the winter - Had Oxygen sensor if needed near by. never did it trip off. I like that Mr Buddy has a fan and connected the adapter to use an electrical outlet but did use rechargeable battery's at first. Did not use it the last 2 yrs not needed -
( probably used about 100 1lbs bottles back then )

The FAN is very helpful in warming the area you need.

My comparable Heater Buddy puts off a ton of heat. But I was surprised when it shut itself off after 2 hours in a 2 car garage with no ceiling or insulation. Despite all the drafts it still tripped the low oxygen sensor. It proved its safe for indoor use, while also being a little disconcerting at how quickly you can burn off oxygen.
Yeah! I figure I could get a small woodworking project done in my garage but my Heater Buddy would shut off in about 1 hour. Kind of surprised myself. I have to leave it near the garage door cracked open a bit, but it still warms the whole garage really nicely with a small draft coming in.

Based on the instructions, you do need both 1 lb canisters to be installed. It is not recommended to have just one.
Between me and my BIL we own both this and the Mr Buddy Heater of the same size. Both will work fantastically with just (1) 1lb canister attached but obviously you will have half the run time. The 20lb hose attachment is also the same and simply attaches to one of the 2 inlets while the other side remains unconnected (the same as if you just had just a single 1lb bottle connected).

We like them both just the same and this is a great deal!

Has anyone had any experience using both this product and the Mr. Heater Big Buddy? The 18K BTU rating seems to make these two comparable, but it's almost too good to be true that this is less than half the price.

I haven't used both but Mr. Heater products will have better build quality for sure and are made to be used with 20lb propane tanks. Not sure if that would work with this one.

I have two Buddy heaters… and LOVE them. The Big Buddy is 18k and comparable to this one and I looked at the manual and it looks very similar in operation. One thing to note is that the previous gen Big Buddy heaters have a fan driven off (4) D batteries or that really helps circulate the air. (You can also buy an optimal power adapter). The latest Big Buddy 18k BTU heaters no longer have the fan, but you can order it and take it apart and add it.

The other thing that may be a difference between this one is that the instructions says this is "infinitely adjustable" most likely meaning you can adjust the propane output as needed for heat. With the big Buddy, you just get high/medium/low and there are no adjustments. One thing to also not is that with the Big Buddy heaters that low/'medium only use the left heater panel. The right heat panel only turns on when on the high setting. Not a big deal, but I assume that might lead to long term wear on the single panel.

I also use these heaters to heat a small cabin that I have all winter long with no issues. I either refill small 1lb oropane tanks or run off a larger 20lb tank with a hose adapter. I do have carbon monoxide and smoke alarms just in case but had never had an issue.

I may buy one of those Dyna GLO just for the heck of it to compare. I have been so impressed with the Buddy heaters though… Why change now?

Also recommend a propane gas detector, just had a tent blow in here in Spokane, WA the other day from a propane leak 2 in serious condition. Fire dept says it was an explosion from some sort of propane leak, one of the homeless occupants lit a cigarette the gas in the enclosed tent went up instantly.

When propane burns, it creates heat, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. Using these heaters in a humid environment will cause you have condensation on all cold surfaces such as windows. I had a similar heating in a travel trailer and water was dripping from every cold surface.

I've never used one of these heaters in a dry climate, so the extra humidity might actually be a positive if you are in the desert.

Where do I buy this optional hose to connect a 20lb standard tank?
