Amazon has a ton of adapter hoses in varying lengths. For example, I recently bought this 5' hose for our Buddy heater. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0757...UTF8&psc=1
I want to hook up a 5lb tank, is this what I need? Do I need 2 5lb tanks and 2 hoses, as this states that 2 1lb cans are required?

Also recommend a propane gas detector, just had a tent blow in here in Spokane, WA the other day from a propane leak 2 in serious condition. Fire dept says it was an explosion from some sort of propane leak, one of the homeless occupants lit a cigarette the gas in the enclosed tent went up instantly.
As per safe use, was he a homeless rocket surgeon or just your average homeless drug user ?

Not sure what a rocket surgeon is, but I'm pretty sure I want to be one when I grow up.

What is the average price of 1lb tanks? I could not find on Walmart online. I was thinking one of these of unheated detached garage. Just while working inside.

I have the big buddy from Mr.Heater. It will keep a small room warm or anywhere the heater is in proximity to you. I use it when I work in the garage in the winter.

There is much debate over the value of the blower but I am fan (pun intended). It allows a broader range for the heat. Starting in ~2019 they started selling it without the blower. Then I saw this year, some models have it, some don't. If you have a choice I would go for the blower model as you don't have to use but then have the option. The current price is $150. Around black friday I have seen them on sale for something like $100.

I know people with the big buddies that run it off 20 lbs tank at their cabins (running the hose to the take outside) or even their garages. If you go that route, their is filter they sell. . It filters small particle contaminants from getting into the components. Fitter and hose sold separately. A friend of mine uses his this way and uses it a lot. He changes the filter once per year and has had that big buddie for 5-6 years so it seems like once a year is enough.

This dynaglow is clone, not sure if it has blower but for $80 seems like deal. Also not sure if has the adapter for the 20lbs tank option but again for $80 its a great option for using such as I have spelled out above or as a back option (if your heat goes out due to something like a power outage or running out of oil).

I've saw them for $3 last winter at my walmart but prices fluctuate.

Thought the 1 pounder is disposable. Been throwing away after shooting a hole in.
Nope. Just get a refill adapter that attaches to your 20lb propane tank. Flip 20lb tank over and refill the bottles. Tons of videos online on how to do it. Adapter costs around $10 on amazon. Easy peasy.

You might be in violation of lease or code (if you have 20lb tank) but you can use it safely. Obviously keep it away from anything flammable and have a working smoke and CO detector just to be safe.

They've been shorted/out of stock all over the country for a while. Very hard to find.

You literally have no idea how hard it is to kill your self with these things. We use this every winter, every day, every year, to supplement our oil furnace. Go back to playing Fortnite son.

Reading reviews on Walmart and elsewhere, I'm not sure the savings on this are worth it vs mr buddy. Lots of reviews saying it's hard to light, and even worse, that it won't stay lit. That's a pretty big problem if you're using this in any sort of emergency or truly cold situation. Stuff like this you want to work 100% without question. Just my 2 cents!

all it takes is a bad leak
Same with natural gas but you dont see everyone cutting off the natural gas to their houses.

I use this while camping with plenty of air flowing and additional sensors.

Most reports of people who die from propane heaters misuse or modify propane heaters that are not meant for indoor use.
