You literally have no idea how hard it is to kill your self with these things. We use this every winter, every day, every year, to supplement our oil furnace. Go back to playing Fortnite son.

Probably zero to none if used as directed.

This looks like a competitor Mr Heater big buddy
Plenty of people use Mr heater in a tent, just make sure you take a Carbon Monoxide Detector and I would keep it placed off the tent with a wood board or something that won't melt or catch fire easily.

I doubt that it has an actual low oxygen sensor. The flame base of the pilot flame lifts off the gas port under low oxygen levels, the thermocouple cools off and the gas valve closes shutting the heater down.

I'm using a 4-ft hose Char-Broil 4633 (available at Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Char-Broil...B000H25P42)

And the Mr. Heater Fuel Filter F273699 (available at Tractor Supply - https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...-_-3000863)

They might be available elsewhere, that's just the first place that shows up on a Google search.
I want to hook up a 5lb tank, is this what I need? Do I need 2 5lb tanks and 2 hoses/filters, as this states that 2 1lb cans are required?

How well would this work for backyard movie night for the kids for when it gets chilly around 50s degrees?
not well - about 60% of the heat travel as directional beam of heat and about 40% goes straight up. You better buy heated blankets.

Yes. You need some high pressure hose (without regulator) and some fuel filter. You can buy one tank and one hose. The only reason why its designed for two 1lb tanks is to provide some reasonable run time.

I just bought a Big Buddy heater. The confusing thing is understanding the options for using a 20 lb bottle. The Big Buddy is the only Mr Heater model that has 3 inlets, (2) for the 1 lb bottles and (1) quick disconnect that is exclusively for the 20 lb or larger tanks. You can buy a single quick disconnect hose, which will allow you to use the heater on the high setting. Or you can buy a hose that converts the smaller inlets for the 20 lb bottle. However, each 1 lb inlet only powers 1 of the 2 heating tiles. So you would need 2 conversion hoses to use the heater on the high setting, plus a either (2) 20 lb tanks or a single tank and a splitter. Much easier to just get a quick disconnect hose if you're planning to use a 20 lb bottle. I could be wrong, but I think the instructions on this Dyna Glow model indicate a similar 3 inlet configuration.
You are wrong. Mr heater, big buddy model has two ports - high pressure (where you connect 1LB or 20LB high pressure line) and low pressure (where you connect quickconnect line). you need just one connection to power both heater plates

Have they stopped producing these 1 lb bottles? I can't find them anywhere.
there is a national shortage for steel (yes, steel). Also price for 1lb bottle went 25% up. You better study how to refill it. it is safe.

Where do I buy this optional hose to connect a 20lb standard tank?
Any high pressure hose (without regulator) will do. Walmart has it instore. Amazon has like 100 different brands. Academy, Bass shop, Dick's, tractor supply - you name it.

I have no idea if the product is safe or not, or how it works. But I do know statistics. The thing with survival bias is that if you did die from using this thing, you wouldn't be on slickdeals to warn us about it.

The only version of you to be on slickdeals is the version that lived.

I got mine today. Took it out of the box and tried to turn the knob, but it won't turn. It will push in, just won't turn. Does it need to have a tank installed to allow the knob turn? Or did I get a broken unit?

Yes, there are possibilities of death from a leak. https://safer-america.com/dangerous-natural-gas/
There are always risks of fire, you should never have heat sources indoors! You should only rely on coats, hats, gloves, and blankets. ;-)

Just got this heater delivered and installed 2 full 1 lb tanks. I can only get the panel on the left to glow even at the highest setting. Is it broken?

I have a mr Buddy but when I use it in my garage, the carbon monoxide detector I have goes off after only a few minutes. Is there something wrong with my Mr Buddy?
Probably not. If combustion was perfect you would only get co2 and water vapor, but it's not perfect so these do put out CO...
