I want to hook up a 5lb tank, is this what I need? Do I need 2 5lb tanks and 2 hoses/filters, as this states that 2 1lb cans are required?
What you want is this SKU# F273704
This dyna glo doesn't have a quick connect like the big buddy, so using a hose with a regulator won't help since you're effectively running the propane through 2 regulators (one at the tank end and one at the heater end). For the big buddy it would work as the regulator will reduce the pressure in the hose as it exits the tank and won't leech any particles out of the hose (the quick connect bypasses the regulator on the heater)

Any of the other hoses (Mr. Heater included) are made of rubber which the high pressure will eventually leech particles off and clog your heater. If you want to use a hose that isn't the one I mention above, then you need a filter to keep your heater running without getting clogged (and Mr heater recommends changing it every season). In that caee, I think it's just easier to buy the hose that doesn't require a filter and not worry about constantly changing it.

Hope this helps. Took me a while to figure this all out as it's pretty confusing. It's all explained in the Mr heater FAQ section as well

Just got this heater delivered and installed 2 full 1 lb tanks. I can only get the panel on the left to glow even at the highest setting. Is it broken?
Mine light up on the right, I was like WTF. then waited 5 more minutes, both lit. So, wait.

You would think if it was that common a problem they would mention it in the troubleshooting section of the manual.instead of all the dumb stuff that is in there.
I even called the number listed for Customer Support and requested a call back. After several hours the call came in and nice woman told be to remove the tanks and shake the unit. If that didn't work I was asked to return it to Walmart.

How many hours of medium to high heat do you get with 2 tanks? How much $ were the tanks?

Does it get warm?

agree, the only difference is that in most states appliances have to be installed by a licensed person for a reason, because too many diy / learned it on U-tube / know it all idiots have killed themself.

According to the manual:
Two 1lb tanks 2.4h on high and 4.5h on medium.
Found the tanks at Target for $5 each so I bought the last 4
I think it will work well in my 12x16 shed when I need to work out there. I ordered a second to see if it has the same issue.

If you combined it with one of these things you'd be good to go!

You only need 1 hose, don't need to hook up both sides when using a larger tank. Also, only one panel lights up on the lower settings, both will on the high setting.

I got my hose from dicks sporting goods for 35, might be worth checking out if you have one nearby

Wonder how many people this product kills each year who use it inside their house.
It is true in my case. Not sure if mine was defective and it almost caught fire. First it started with a weird smell and I was closely watching it and noticed that the plastic attached to the handle started melting and then the left side. Luckily I was able to turn it off. Not sure how this passed the quality control. I have contacted Walmart customer service a created a complaint.

Mine was just delivered today and I have to say the Quality Control is unfortunately not good. It arrived in a box inside of a box (packaging was good). Upon opening the outside box, I found a small screw sitting loose ontop of the inside box. That was odd. Upon opening the inside box and removing from the packaging, a second screw fell out of the packaging onto the floor. After further inspection, I found the heating element sitting loose (two tabs on top were out of housing). I'm mechanically inclined and could most likely figure out where those screws go and put it all back together, but i'm pretty hesitant for something as potentially hazardous as this. Probably going to reach out to the manufacturer and let them know (they should want to anyway). The loose screw inside the packaging is one thing, but i'm amazed that the other screw was sitting on top of the inside box (which was sealed)! How is that even possible without someone on the assembly line not caring about the quality of the product? Its as if they knew the product was going out defective and didn't reject it. But they had the decency to at least pick up the second screw and include it in the other box!

Update: While on hold with their support number for over 30 minutes, I surfed their website to find this product and i can't find a trace of it (even though the manual suggested it). I feel that I've made a mistake with this purchase Frown
