As a few stated I been going Groupon too. Been changing between my wife and I for a few years now. I will take it further that I don't go in store for a card. I load up the app and the card is on the app. I love the check out option in the app. I scan my items and sometimes I get to double dip and get 2 coupons it will tell me what coupons I can use. I pay and walk past the long lines and check out.

BJS membership is nation wide. If your store is on the not valid store list, you can active your membership at a store that is not on the list. Once you get your membership, you can use it anywhere you want.

We've maintained memberships at Costco and Sam's Club since they entered Michigan over two decades ago.

And we joined BJ's when they entered Michigan a comply years ago - due to the gift card bribe they offered.

BJ's might have woken up and realized they had to grow their scale to survive…

But they are a poor stepchild to the other two war house clubs. Their membership is worth no more than $25 to us. In fact, if you let your membership expire, about 90-180 days later they'll come offering a $25 renewal vs the $55 standard fee.

They fail to complete in many ways but few…
1) Coupon hell. The only way to get their prices competitive with the other two clubs is by laboriously going thru their digital coupons. Every month. It is almost as if they never do competitor price checks.
2) Poorly and inconsistently managed.
3) Their gas prices tend to be $0.10 higher per gallon vs SAMs and Costco. Before and after corresponding rewards at each brand. (C & S clubs are located a mile or less away.)

On the plus side:
1) The product depth in each category - for food only - is often greater. Often more choices. But the inventory can be shaky.
2) There tend to be more employees than customers in the store, so it is a peaceful shopping experience and parking is easy!

today I went to bjs to buy food and bought food. That seems to be biggest advantage over costco for me where costco inventory arrangements makes me buy impulse buys.

never been to the bj's gas pump...
Do i need to get a physical card to use it? i guess i should if my phone is down anyway.
can you pay by phone or credit card only? or bj's gift card?
i can't speak for some older stores. But there is one near me opened two years old. I can use my BJS phone app to scan my membership barcode to activate the gas pump or during in-store check-out. But you still need a physical credit card to pay. I have not tried any Google Pay type of payment.

Signed up. Didn't get the $10. When does it show up on your account? Also, there is nothing in the account information about the $60 @ $10/mo. Not sure this is going to work.

Questions if anyone can help.... My Bj's membership is expiring at the end of the month. I'm the primary member, my wife is the secondary (household) member. Can my wife sign up for this deal as a new member and add me as the secondary member? Do we need to enter new email addresses/accounts in order to do this?

Can we do this solely online or do we needed to visit a eligible store to activate the memebership? The closest store to us is excluded from the offer but have another one an extra 10 min drive away. I'm assume once activated they don't care which bj's you shop at.

I did this promo three months ago. The $10 award does not rollover and you need to spend it for that month that you received it in. When checking out, go to the credit/debit option and if the reward is there, it will pop up. I use it to buy milk/eggs and pay nothing, basically. Free $30 if you have a close location next to you (5 mins away from my home). can't complain. Don't really shop at BJ's otherwise. Costco is much better, IMO.

Can someone PLEASE (please) tell me the advantage of going to a place like BJ's vs just going to a regular supermarket? Is BJ's only for people with large families? I only have my wife and I and hopefully 1 on the way. Is BJ's for people with like 6 kids? I just don't want to pay more than I should…and this is a deal…but I don't want to get it and not use it, you know? THANK YOU for any help!
A few thoughts although YMMV:

1. If you are ok with larger packaging, you can get a better deal I do some shopping there for my parents. They like Ball Park Franks. 24 pack is 9.49 this month - so 3.13/pack - ShopRite is 5.99, Target 4.29. They like Pep Farm bread - BJs is 3.99 for a 2 pack. 3.99 for 1 pack in ShopRite and Target. Deli Meats - Dietz and Watson, 6.99/# (with the $2 off this month), Store brand (comparable) 5.99/#. Everyday perdue pricing is similar to ShopRite on sale prices - yes, its a bigger pack but you can break it down and freeze it.

2. We like Cascade and find BJs has better pricing than Target.

I think you can go in the app (or online) and look for the brands you like and see what their pricing is. Good luck!

(1) yes, spouse can sign up (1)(b) no need for secondary card - just use the app on your phone or take the card when you go. Also, no need to risk being deemed a non-new member next year (when signing up with the inevitable "new member" promo w the non-members spouses name) bc you were a secondary this year (no idea if that's true but it is a potential risk).
(2) no idea - always used a different enail. Try it with same and let us know.
(3) online only is fine (account was fully active in the app immediately upon online purchase) although I doubt if you go to an excluded store to get your physical card (optional) they'll tell you to go to the other location to get your card. I doubt they even know the source of your membership purchase.
(4) membership will work anywhere

How is this promotion works ? I did signed up and got the digital card, went to BJs and showed my digital card and asked customer service to give me a hard copy of the card, they said I don't need physical card. Also, I asked customer service about the promotion but they didn't know anything about it.
How to check if the promotion is applied to my account ?

Do they still check your driver's license to make sure you weren't a member in the past, even if you used an email address and CC you've never used there before? And do you even really need a physical card anymore since it's all on the app now?

As for why would anyone want to go to BJ's, I agree that Costco's better overall. I can't quite pin it down but it just is, and I haven't gotten gas at either for years since locals ones don't offer it. Costco has better breads but BJ's has a bigger selection. Better fresh/frozen seafood & meat selection at Costco, better & more prepared foods. Better coffee selection. Better laptops & other electronics. Better supplement selection. And so on. But BJ's has a better fresh produce & snack/candy selection, and better/more outdoors equipment like lawn chairs, gardening equipment, fertilizers, etc. BJ's has a real meat and cheese deli while Costco does not.

BJ's sort of feels like the big box of supermarkets while Costco has more of a Home Depot vibe to it. If I had to choose I'd always go with Costco but with such promos it's always nice to have a BJ's membership as well. The double $5 Starbuck coupons are almost worth it by themselves, coming out to $7-$8 for a 2.5lb of beans or ground. But you really have to visit both to decide which is for you.

This is in the terms and conditions:

Offer is contingent upon your enrolling in BJ's Easy Renewal®, and you authorize BJ's to charge the debit/credit card first used at BJ's after accepting this offer, an annual recurring charge in the amount of the then-current membership fee for all active memberships on your account, plus tax where applicable, on the first day of the month your membership expires.

Do they force you to enroll in auto renewal or else they will not apply the promo???

Just before that first day of that month when they will charge your card for an auto-renewal, cancel it. But you have to accept it for this deal.
