I've had one of these for a while now... They work great but they use a lot of propane.

so, downsides are uses lots of propane, takes a long time - what's the selling point on these? is it just for taste preference? do they make healthier turkey? (or whatever you're cooking) or something else?

Cook time and propane consumption depends on your turkey size/weight and is typically less than a conventional oven. The rule of thumb for chicken/turkey is 20 minutes/lb + 20 minutes. 4 hours would be 11 lbs which isn't a big turkey. Maybe I'm wrong?
