Specific to this laptop, since there is an urgent BIOS update I would setup the Windows install on the laptop to do the update first.

Then download the Windows 11 Disk Image ISO from MS:

To be able to setup a dual boot with Linux, Use Rufus to create a USB thumb drive with the Windows11 installation media and select the "Extended Windows 11 installation" without secure boot to setup the thumb drive. You also need to disable Secure Boot in the Bios settings of the laptop. You can leave TPM on.

For the Windows installer to recognize the drive controller in the laptop you will need to download the Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Driver for the laptop from Dell.

Extract the driver EXE file using 7zip. In the folder path
Intel_Rapid_Storage_Technology_Driver\Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Driver_8GHWY_WIN64_18.6.4.1022_A03_01\production/Windows10-x64\15063\F6\VMD\
copy the f6vmdflpy-x64 folder with the controller driver files to the root of the Windows 11 install thumb drive or to another thumb drive.
Boot from the Windows 11 install drive. Select "I don't have a product key" and select Windows 11 Home Edition install from the menu. When you get to the prompt to where you want to install Windows, there will be no drives listed. Click 'Load driver' and browse to the location of the folder you copied and select the driver from the list, similar to the process here:

Your laptop drive will now be listed. To do a new clean Windows 11 install delete all the existing partitions and setup a new partition for for Windows, leaving at least 100GB free space for the Linux installation.
Once you finish the Windows installation and are at your Desktop the Windows copy will be already activated using the digital license on the laptop.

You can then setup the Linux install on the free space left. With Arch Linux using the mainstream Linux kernel and firmware with Gnome, to get sound and the fingerprint reader working, I had to install the sof and fprintd firmware manually.

I wanted to anyway reinstall windows on this Dell 5310. I will go with windows 10 for now and leave 100Gb for Linux.
