Yep, it's a trade off. Ultrasonic humidifiers won't have that filter/wick consumable to deal with, but then you're atomizing white dust and other impurities into the air. And warm mist models use a ton of electricity.
So in theory, evaporative humidifiers provide the cleanest air, but require wick maintenance (cleaning with white vinegar and replacing them when it comes time). See that review link I posted above for more info on this.

Also I wouldn't recommend using this for cigars if you can't control the humidity.

IMO evaporative is most effort and noisiest, but may be necessary for some
