Anyone who owns this tv, can you share your experience with viewing live sports? I've been deciding between this and the Sony X91J for my front room where this would only be for watching live sports, never movies. Rtings has this tv slightly better than the Sony for sports but I also here the Sony is much better upscaling

I've owned a 65" Nano 90 for about a year now, it's been great. Handles motion really well for 4K 120HZ gaming and sports. Deep colors. If you set the brightness, backlight, gamma and local dimming correctly you can achieve deep blacks and minimal backlight bleed.

Thanks for the insight. But is it worth $600+ as compared to UP8770?

Depends on how picky you are and your use case. I use my Nano 90 as a HTPC monitor and for gaming. I have no direct experience with the UP8770, but per the rting's reviews it is an IPS (ADS) panel that is quick with good viewing angles, but poor black levels / backlight bleed. The Nano 90 adds local dimming that corrects the backlight bleed and 120Hz VRR support for gaming with modern high end GPU's. Two different tiers of TV, the Nano 90 is comparable to a Q60 or Q70.

I'd cross shop the UP8000 with the Samsung AU8000, which has a similar price but VA panel that will be better in dark rooms, great black uniformity / contrast ratio for movies without needing local dimming. The UP8000 will be better for a wide seating arrangement and slightly quicker panel.

Check the rtings reviews, they all have their quirks.
