This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

Yeah it wasn't universally the cause for everyone but something about my account (and I still can't do this - tried when this was posted). I also had them remove and re-add the other promos on my account to see if it fixed the issue, and that was the only one they couldn't remove and reapply. Just suggesting an alternative for those who get the error since in all the previous thread there wasn't a repeatable fix for that particular error.
Insider discount probably isn't an issue. Plenty of folks including myself have no problem with that discount when ordering from BB. That said, none of us knows exactly how T-Mobile's system operates so can't say for sure either way.

Try going in person to BB. It avoids most of these issues and the promotion is the same; only a few unlucky folks still get errors in person.

If going the route of using a friends account, since I have a business account. Will it affect their account in any way if I'm purchasing it outright?

Correct. The purchaser (not the tmo account holder) is the only one that needs to show up. They don't even do any account-level verification at the store. Just pulled up my order, checked over my trade-in and confirmed the condition, and gave me the new phone.
Any idea if this trade in counts against tye limit of 5 per person per year for best buy? And does it apply to purchaser or tmo account holder...like you can convert trade in to bestbuy GC but limit is 5 per same model per person..

my XR is a perfect phone. Hate to say this as a heavy apple investor.
The XR is perfect for this trade in to iPhone13. The regular iPhone13 is faster, lighter and the cameras are better than the XR. Screens seems to be also better. I did such trade for the kids, they are happy - videos and photos are much better now.
Financially, it will cost you around $400 to upgrade now, and probably the Iphone13 will have similarly marginal increase in trade value in the next cycle with iPhone14. Otherwise, you are simply deferring an expense that you will make anyway but meanwhile using an older phone.
Similarly, on the car market at the moment, a lease of Mercedes or BMW can be perpetually less expensive than buying a Civic, and to carry higher value at the end. BMW reported 16% increase in annual sales in US last year. Apple reported 16-18% increase in market share last year...

I had same issue when i was try to order on desktop. I tried on cell phone and its worked. So you are right its not related to insider discount lol. laugh out loud

Worked with grandfathered simple choice,

Walked in with iphone 12, told them I was here for the $100 discounted Iphone 13 for $700, and that I have my iphone 12 for the $650 trade value.

Was pretty cut and dry, but i'm already on Tmo so I don't have to play the activation game.

Good luck guys!

That varies by geography. When I picked up a phone in New York I had to verify account holder info like SSN (last four) and give over a PIN from a text message. Luckily it was my wife's account and she sent me a screen shot of the incoming text message.

In NJ, no verification other than my driver license matching my name on the online order.

I haven't seen any impact on an underlying account. One person out of hundreds said they could only do four "upgrades" off a single phone number. Let us know if you hit a limit after your fourth upgrade!

looks like $50 to upgrade from 12 to 13 is best value.

It's a want vs need question. Sure, every new iPhone would be better than the last one. But do I need it?
XR does it for me. Would I upgrade? Sure, if a deal comes along like it did for my XR which basically came out to be free after my iphone 6s+ (also free, made money to me) that I traded in. If a better trade deal comes, I'd do it. But for now, I see it as a want that I can postpone.

Did anyone purchase this and then receive an order cancelation e-mail? I just got the following from Best Buy:

Quote :
"Sorry, [Name]. We had to cancel your mobile order.

We were unable to activate the device you purchased on our site, so we had to cancel the item(s) included in your mobile package. We will now begin processing a refund for your payment."
This isn't the exact error posted by other users above, but I do have a grandfathered Simple Choice North America plan with a couple free lines, but not the line I'm trying to upgrade. I just placed another web order and will see if I get a similar cancelation e-mail.

How do you check trade in for older Samsung phones?

Edit: nevermind...once you begin check out there's a trade-in prompt

Count me among those few unlucky. Store purchase system uses the same verification process as online, so it didn't work there either and they got the same message.
