This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

I believe they limit you to 5 unlocks in a 12 month period per line. Or so I was told ... and that they can't override that.
I just had 7 unlocks via Tforce…5 in November, 2 in December. Long time T-Mobile customer here, so maybe that matters.

Each request was submitted the day after I purchased the phone. Each unlock took between 3-5 days.

DO NOT TRADE IN SAYING ITS UNLOCKED WHEN ITS LOCKED. There are DPs of full chargeback from Best Buy. You can say it's another carrier and that doesn't seem to be an issue but do not select unlocked.
I traded in my iPhone 12 locked to tmobile as unlocked for iPhone 13. Do you think there will chargeback?

I was told NO, the system would flag/reject when BB enters the IMEI, and it doesn't match what they expect.
Thanks for the update.

what's different from the other Best Buy thread ? Better trade in ? Better promo?

just trying to figure the reason for the new thread ?
Quote from saverdan :
This is third or maybe fourth Best Buy "hot" deal thread since September 2021. They put the iPhone 13 and Mini at $100 off list price while also boosting trade-in values by a couple of hundred bucks for TMo customers.
it's basically the same deal repeated with slight variations. Currently, iPhone 13 and mini are on sale, but tiv for most devices are lower compared to previously.

So yeah, it all comes out about the same in the wash. Rinse and repeat.

You'll need to use the new SIMs furnished by Best Buy if you follow the instructions to automatically activate your new iPhones - see the link in the email you get from Best Buy after you complete the purchase of your iPhones. That process has you key in the IMEI of your new iPhone(s) - and when you do, T-Mobile cuts over that line to the new SIM. T-Mobile will send the primary account holder a text notifying them of a SIM change. I suspect that part is what justifies Best Buy offering a $200 bonus on T-Mobile phone upgrades - it proves that Best Buy sold you a new phone for use on T-Mobile. Others have reached out to T-Mobile directly to activate the new iPhones, but no need to do that if you follow the Best Buy process.
Anyone know if this is true? I upgraded my line for an iPhone 13 for my brother, so I didn't bother putting in the new SIM and just gave him the new phone. Now you have me worried that I need to activate the new SIM on the new iPhone to "confirm" the deal. I don't see how this justifies BB offering $200 bonus as the bonus is tied to the trade-in.

also bought 3 IP11 from TW deal (250$), thought about trading in for IP13 but final cost is 700$ - 500$ = 200$ + tax and the 250$ i paid for IP11, works out to be about 500$. Not sure what the hoopla is all about, that's not a screaming deal. Unless Im not doing my math correctly.
Great deal to trade in the older IP11 and IPSE2 which were "free" from tmobile w bill credits from prior promo.

Think my kids will be more than happy w IP11 since they are using some old Moto X4 phone or something similar.
Good deal for some, not so much for others. Depends on many factors, some of which you touched on.

What I commonly see, as you alluded to, is that many SDers often overvalue the deal because they conveniently overlook the cost of their trade-in device, and do not factor it into the final cost of the deal.

Did you activate the phone on TMO before you requested the unlock? It was the phone still in the box.

I did the deal for 7 phones over the past few months, and never once used the new sim that came with the phone. I just transferred the old T-Mobile sim from my old phones to the new phones. The new sims are all in a drawer right now collecting dust. LOL.

I activated each iphone 13. I installed my old T-Mobile sim on each phone so each phone was active on my T-Mobile account for one day, then requested the unlocks. Once unlocked, I removed the old sims, wiped the phones, and sold each one for $750.

How do you get Best Buy to not put the SIM card in?

Open your mouth and say, "Don't put in the new SIM card, I will do all of that at home." Most times, they won't even bother anyway, and just hand you the boxed phone with the sim taped to it.

All up to your rep. Some are nice and will let you do it on the side. Others will charge. Please be mindful if your store is a busy one. From my experience, reps don't like when a customer does not have a backup ready especially if there are a lot of people waiting and short staffed due to covid.
So then how do they expect you to transfer your data??

Trying to trade in and upgrade from a 6s with t mobile. Tried online and in-store and they told me they couldn't connect to t mobiles servers for activation and I'm out of luck.
Reached out to T-Mobile directly and the rep told me they are not honoring this Best Buy promotion at all. Apparently because they are offering a promotion on the iPhone 13 and won't accept Best Buy's promotion while it is active.

EDIT: Turns out my family plan was originally considered a business plan and that may be why I can't use this promo.

If the rep is nice, they won't charge. If they go by the rules, you pay $40.

You can backup via iCloud without paying money, iOS gives you extra iCloud space when you buy a new device for about 21 days.

Or backup in iTunes.

Or if you have a spare phone available, do the iPhone to iPhone on the spare phone. Once you get home with your new iPhone, do the iPhone to iPhone using the spare iPhone.

Ok, that's what I thought. I had my daughter backup her phone on iTunes. I was just curious how so many people don't understand that simple process.
