This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

So then how do they expect you to transfer your data??
Back up your phone first while at home. Use iCloud, laptop, thumb drive, old phone, whatever to store your backup. Then wipe your phone. Trade it for new phone. Bring new phone home and transfer backup during setup.

Yup. Other than not having a phone on the way home and for an hour while your stuff restores, it's really easy and stress free. It'd be easier to have some sort of deferred trade in but for the discount they give I don't care.

Reached out to T-Mobile directly and the rep told me they are not honoring this Best Buy promotion at all. Apparently because they are offering a promotion on the iPhone 13 and won't accept Best Buy's promotion while it is active.
Is this for just for upgrades? Or new accounts too?

For those of you that tried to unlock with ATT and it didn't work, a temporary solution to use it on T-Mobile might be rsim.

No clue. I didn't ask about new accounts but I'd imagine they still wouldn't honor it. If you contact them and find a different answer, I'd appreciate a reply!!

How do you get Best Buy to not put the SIM card in?
Tell them it's a gift. Or maybe just come 30'-45' before they close time

Were you able to unlock the iPhones that were locked to AT&T after the easy unlocking method stopped working?

I have one iPhone 13 that is locked to AT&T and every rep (5 so far via phone, twitter, and Facebook) I talked to say they can't unlock it because it's not an AT&T device.
No, sold them off as locked to AT&T

They didn't put the SIM on my when I traded in a different phone. However, they activated the upgrade and it killed my old sim on my phone. Once I walked out of store, my current phone cell was killed and got message with no voice service. Have to put in new sim to my old phone.

EDIT: Apparently, you still need to get a rep involved at some point.

I just chatted with CS, she said you can set up an account with them while you're at Best Buy and they'll mail you the SIM for new accounts, for upgrades she said it depends on what kind of account you have. I wish I could post screenshots, I got her to verify about new customers twice.

Oh, I forgot to say I didn't see and iPhone 13 specials on their website, when it first opens there's an offer for $800 off Samsung. And even when I went to the iPhone 13, I didn't see anything. 🤷

Anyone know if this is true? I upgraded my line for an iPhone 13 for my brother, so I didn't bother putting in the new SIM and just gave him the new phone. Now you have me worried that I need to activate the new SIM on the new iPhone to "confirm" the deal. I don't see how this justifies BB offering $200 bonus as the bonus is tied to the trade-in.
Quote from xtrabad :
I did the deal for 7 phones over the past few months, and never once used the new sim that came with the phone. I just transferred the old T-Mobile sim from my old phones to the new phones. The new sims are all in a drawer right now collecting dust. LOL.
In my experience, this is not true. I just traded in two phones - an iPhone SE2 and an iPhone XR, and I just used our old SIM in the new phones without issue.

With that said, someone responded to me in this thread that I should consider upgrading the SIM if I've got an older (non-R15) SIM. My rudimentary understanding is that, while the old SIM should work fine, the R15 SIM should work "better" with T-Mobile's "Standalone 5G."

EDIT: I contacted T-Force, and they assisted me w/ replacing our two older (non-R15) SIM cards with a newer R15 SIM card.

FYI - I tried both your links, but that's the same website I previously already saw, which instructs you to log into your account. As noted, when I attempt to change SIM through my account, it sends me to a link to contact customer service.

You won't get charged anything if you cancel right away. Consumer cellular is either tmobile or at&t. Do you know which hers uses? If it's tmobile it'll work. If it's at&t it's going to be a toss up if the person at best buy will open the box and stick a sim card in or not and lock it to tmobile.
Thank you! She uses T-Mobile. So if I am understanding correctly I can get the 13 from Best Buy, use the tractfone XR for a trade and then cancel the T-Mobile line without getting hit with early termination fees and she can use it on her Consumer Cellular account. Also, will I need to activate the tracfone XR before doing any of this?
