This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

Thanks, it's an upgrade, so will I get to choose which phone number the phone will be associated with if I use the new sim card that came with the phone?
If its a upgrade you keep the same phone# unless you request a new one. Let me clarify this, the phone# is not tied to a SIM card, its tied to your account only, you can get a new sim every month with the same phone# if you some reason need to.

Yeah, thanks that is a good idea to ask on reddit, will do. But seems like MonsterCaribou might be onto something here, so interested in hearing his comments first.
Wherever you read about the store system is right. You should be able to do the trade in deal in store without any issue. It's just going to take a while since you have to do the whole SSN, then verification etc. Their system ain't exactly fast.

This same kind of ban happens with Target as well but you can buy stuff in store all day long.

My procedure has been to just put T-Mo sim in and request unlock. 100% hit rate for me but I also have T-Mo business lines so might be why. I sell them as open-box with like $50 off retail and it goes fast.
once you put the tmobile SIM card and request the unlock, do you leave the SIM card in that phone until it's unlocked?

I did one via twitter back around November but it was my personal line. I did this one on a family members line but I don't have their SIM card so I put mine in it and requested.

Long time T-Mobile customer here with a legacy Simple Talk plan. This deal worked well for me. I got $140 for trading in an iPhone 8 Plus (64 GB) + $200 T-Mo promo + $100 discount on iPhone 13 mini. After $440 in discounts, ended up paying $349 + tax for a new iPhone 13 Mini (256 GB) that has 5G and should last me for years. Saved 55% of MSRP on a brand new iPhone without having to deal with selling old phone or bill credits or activating a new line. A very slick deal for me!
What is this $200 T-Mobile promo?

That's the money that T-Mobile is throwing in to bump up the trade values on this deal. My 11 was valued at $300 by BB, and Tmo added another $200 to equal the $500 final trade value.

If activating the iphone using the sim card that comes with it, will Tmobile give you the option of choosing which number on the account goes with the phone? Or do you have to contact Tmobile for the activation? Thanks
Quote from twinturboz :
The activation is done in store and you get a assigned # in store assuming its a new line, if this is a upgrade then you don't get a new# obviously. The SIM doesnt come with the phone, they give you one upon upgrade/adding line. *FAIR WARNING TO YOU GUYS ON HERE, THE IPHONES ARE NOT SIM LOCKED TO T-MOBILE* They get locked to the first inserted SIM it appears as i just locked on of the iphones to Verizon after inserting a Verizon sim, not it shows "SIM not supported" when i put in a T-mobile SIM they gave me, so I assuming they aren't locked to any carrier.

In my case, I contacted T-Force to make sure the two SIM cards that came with the two phones were assigned to specific numbers. We have been T-Mobile customers since the launch of the iPhone 6S, and it was T-Force's opinion that, given the age of our old SIM cards, that we upgrade to the newer R15 SIM cards. With that said, our old SIM cards seemed to work fine with the new phones.

I just gave T-Force the SIM card numbers, and told them which phone number we wanted those SIM cards associated with, and they were able to complete that request in short order.
and were upgrading

How do we get this T-mo promo ? Do we contact T mobile separately ?

I used my friend's T-Mobile account to purchase this iPhone 13. And then I used his old SIM to activate. Now the phone is locked to T-Mobile . It may not be possible to keep his SIM in this iPhone for 40 days. So I am thinking, if it is possible for me to get a T-Mobile prepaid SIM for $15/month (plus $10 SIM kit fee) and keep this prepaid SIM in it for 40 days, will this satisfy the unlock requirement?
I would give it a week or so and then using your friends sim in the phone to chat with them telling you need this device to be temp unlocked because you need to visit some other country. usually even temp unlocks would stick on iphones and chats are pretty easy to deal with.

I dont think this is T-Mobile throwing to BBY but BBY doing it ? no why would they give it out? Tmo is not gaining anything here..

Are folks having better luck in person than online? I've been trying so many ways online with no luck. New account...adding a line to a friend's acct...both generated different errors on BB site!

Where did you sign up for the 20 dollar plan, Best Buy or T-Mobile store?
