This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

So here is my experience with this deal. I actually went to Best Buy because the iPhone 13 mini was available with ATT for $499.99. This was $200 off just the phone. But I made the mistake of telling the overweight middle-age bald man at the Best But wireless department that I would like to not have him put the sim because I want to be able to return it after 14 days (wanted to see if some better deal came along). But this man went on a power trip and claimed that since I was going "cancel" the service he would not sell me the phone. Even the manager sided with him and I left, never to return to this Best Buy.

Then I saw the T-mobile deal on Slickdeals so I needed to act fast because I think the deal ends today or tomorrow. Here is what I did:

1. Went to Costco to get the $300 T-Mobile BYOD credit with a $20 talk/text line. The line at Costco was huge and really did not want to wait an hour or so, so went to T-mobile store. They had the $20 talk/text sim and signed me up (yes I paid the $30 activation fee, which would not be charged if I had called them and had them ship it - but since time was of the essence, needed up paying it). So basically keep this for 40 days (or less), pay $50.

2. Went home and setup a T-Mobile account. Inserted the TMO sim into the iPhone 11 that I was going to trade in and went through the steps to purchase the phone. First couple of times, the BB website did not work so I called them and they said it was a known issue and the best thing for me to do was go into the store and get the deal. I said NO. I then tried the same thing in incognito mode, no cookies etc. and it Worked!

3. So then I went to the Best Buy and to pickup the phone when it was ready. I went near the close and the young man wanted to insert the sim for me and I said no and he said ok and handed me the phone.

4. I went home, inserted the TMO sim into the new phone and everything worked just fine. Now I will wait to cancel TMO service and have an unlocked phone.

One question I have, I do have a Mint Sim as well. If I had put that in the phone first, would I be locked to Mint? Would I still be able to use the TMO service? This does have a dual SIM capability, will I be able to use both MINT and TMO??

I may just put in the Mint Sim when I get back home to see what happens, but do not want this to mess up and then I will have to deal with Mint and TMO and who know who else.

Thanks and Good luck
I have unlocked at least two android phones from t-mobile with Mint SIM. I dont see a reason why you cant unlock iphone. Unlocking with other T-mobile MVNOs didnt work for me . Mint/Ultra are the only ones that I think works.

Rep and thank you for all your research with this issue.

Now I wonder if the phones that show up as IMEI not recognized, will they be added anytime soon and then will we be able to submit unlock at that time. I also have 1 like that and at the moment unable to submit unlock.

Anyways, thank you. Appreciate all your research and input which definitely helps in deciding to activate with AT&T or not to do the unlock.
For your AT&T locked phone that does not show up in the AT&T Unlock Portal, you can either request for unlock directly from AT&T CSR, or sell it as an AT&T locked phone and take the monetary hit.

For anyone else who wants to wait for their phone to be added to the AT&T Unlock Portal, leave your phone sealed and inactivate. Your 1 year AppleCare starts the first day of the activation.

Just an update for my case from earlier where my phone wouldn't unlock hours after T-Mobile on Twitter said it's unlocked. It unlocked about half a day later.

Yes it will lock to mint if you put in mint sim first. Might as well put in t mobile sim first, that way mint sim would work but not vice versa. Then you could ask t force to unlock before you cancel the lines

No. My question is based on your comment. you mentioned you inserted VZ SIM from your friend, does that mean you have to wait 60 days for the phone to get automatically unlocked by VZ.

I understand if I insert my friends T-mobile SIM and activate I have to reach T-force to get it unlocked.
No.. it's instant unlock. No need to wait.

Yes, I also saw a lot of data points that unlock the phone immediately. But for me, the agents (I usually contact T-Force on Facebook) always tell me 40 days after activation. I have unlocked more than 20 phones. But that always happened.

I would appreciate it if you could answer a specific question. Did you request unlock before or after phone activation. If after, how long? as the agents always told me the phones needed to be on T-mobile network for a while.
After it was activated. It was roughly 48 hours after purchase

Only Apple sells unlocked iPhones.. The retailers are subject to the US Reseller Flex Policy. Sometimes you may get lucky on an unlocked iPhone from Walmart.

Ok thanks for the reply. I'll try CSR but usually they don't do much for non-customers. If i have no other option, i think I'll see if I can activate on a friends account and maybe he can request unlock for me and hopefully they do it.

Anyways, thank you again for all your suggestions.

The sprint tmobile deal on sprint.com is a way better deal. The XR gets you $800 trade in while these give $250 and $275 for the xsmax while the sprint offer nets you $800

But if you're going through rep, isn't TMobile's the same or better? I have unlocked severals requesting Tforce and all were unlocked in between 5 minutes to 3-4 days.

Yes but have one that was first activated with AT&T sim and it's not recognized IMEI on AT&T unlock portal so now will need AT&T to unlock it since it's now locked to them.
