A 2TB PCIe 4 SSD for $100 two years ago? press X to doubt
It would be unreasonable to expect that if anyone were going to purchase this for a PS5 (which is the only use case I was speaking to), they would run a PC program to prepare it.

It isn't marketed as being PS5 compatible, but it's marketed speed is close enough to Sony's recommendation that some will give it a go. My only intent was to offer my anecdotal experience.
To be honest I tested my PS5 with this heatsink, the original PS5 plate and leaving it off and didn't really see much of a temperature difference during the hot California summer with no AC. Just make sure it has plenty of airflow and it should be okay.

400tb is way more than enough for most people. For intense use 400 write tb will be gone in a year or less. For me it took 2 years to get 100 tb write on one of my 1tb nvme. I have 3 1tb nvme, 8 ssd, and 14 hdd.
Yep, I stuck with the $187 drive instead of doing a return and getting this one. I actually considered buying this SSD in addition to my cheaper one knowing I will have a use for it someday... but I gotta stop doin that sh*t Big Grin. IMHO there will be more deals soon, probably better ones. Totally a guess since I can't see the future, but I felt confident enough to skip this deal and wait for a better one once I have an actual use for one (and have already used a few others sitting on the shelf from previous slickdeals, even if only PCIE 3 NVMe 1TB drives).

For anyone considering this for PS5, I bought one from Amazon and returned because it wouldn't register above about 3600MB/s even after formatting about a dozen times.
I'll bet those ps5 nvme lanes are shared. Hence not getting the max speed.

I did a check on my force mp300. 115tb write. 19618 hours on. It is still 100% life left.

I personally not going to lose sleep on tb write or how fast it can go.

Most of my ssd are mlc. My old ocz arc 100 120gb have 78tb write, 38348 hours on. 52% life left.

a good read so you understand controllers a little bit :

https://www.anandtech.com/show/14...bs-nvme-14

your looking at e12 vs e16(this one) vs e18

looks like you PS5 nuts would need to pony up and spend the bucks and buy this one :

https://smile.amazon.com/Sabrent-Internal-Extreme-Performance-SB-RKT4P-2TB/dp/B08P2CG4JK/?_encoding=... [amazon.com]

just remember, your only as fast as your slowest player, unless you play alone, then that's just sad.

This drive is identical (or nearly identical) to the MSI Spatium M470. I picked that up during the black friday to end of year sales last year at $95 - $20 rebate. The PCB looks the same down to the numbers on it, has the same controller, and flash.
I have it in a laptop that seems to only run it at PCIe gen 3 and it's still amazingly fast. It boots windows as fast as resuming from hibernation and can run full Windows defender scans at 200MB/s. It's noticeably faster than the SATA SSD the laptop came with.

Been out of the PC building game for a long time. Have there been huge improvements in nvme ssd's since 4 years ago? I'm running a Samsung 970 nvme. Think the read write speed was around 1300. These are 5000. Is it really noticeably faster?

From all I read there wont be any noticeable difference when you run windows and applications. Unless you do gaming or huge video processing, there should be some good boost when things got loaded into memory

Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB is same as 1TB MSI M470 that was $75 AR last month.

https://slickdeals.net/f/15475852-1tb-msi-spatium-m470-m-2-2280-pcie-4-0-nvme-5000-4400-mb-s-internal-ssd-back-in-stock-74-99?src=SiteSearch

Even Number on PCB is same Q020012SE004802E-V1

Same Read 5000 (MB/s) / Write 4400(MB/s)
