how long does this last before one needs the replacement blades?
As good a price as this is, I wish it wasn't an annual cost
how else are you going to shave a straight razor? At one time I used Mach 3's and those were way more expensive than a set of foils every year aprox.
I will say I like the arc III better than the arc IV its just a tad bulky but that is a personal preference. At this price I'd jump on the ARC IV. If I didnt have a 2.5 year old ARC III that is working great with fresh foil/blades from november.

Never had Panasonic. How does it compare to a Norelco at that price range( mine finally crapped out after 7 years) ? Also have a braun foil shaver, but not a fan of that.

I've been able to use the original foils/blades usually for a year or two before replacing them. I don't shave daily, so I'm probably a bad use case for comparison to others, but I found even switching after up to two years, I didn't get much a difference between new blades/foils. If you shave daily, then the cost of blades might be more necessary, but I've had good experience with the original blades/foil lasting quite a while. I think I went two years on my first Arc3, then another 1.5-2 years on my second Arc3, and now I'm over two years on my Arc4.
I think Panasonic's recommendation is every 1-2 year or so to replace blades. So take my experience with a heavy grain of salt as your mileage may vary.

Is this better than Wahl's sterling mag? I had similar to these one early but the hair needs to get inside those grill to trim right? Often it gets blocked if there is too much hair. Does this also do the same.
I only need to shave my neck every few days, so a small shaver head is easier to work around my beard line. This head looks very bulky. Anyone have any experience with this one and a beard?
It appears to be really bulky with that head design, so wouldn't be good for traveling. See the included case for a better idea of the size. And I would never buy a shaver without a stand. Even if it can't be used for charging, they should include a cheap plastic stand.

Isn't that Wahl a trimmer? This is a shaver, so that's apples and oranges.

I really don't know the difference. So this is meant for someone who uses it daily?
Without the blade guard the wahls does give a close enough cut akin to shaving

I have the Arc5 now but had the Arc4 at one point and not sure I could tell the difference.
