Both of these locations are tourist hot spots which brings money to the area... so it's beneficial to the town/gov to protect visitors. If they don't, they would lose their income.
When in Puerto Vallarta, we hit the market and walked around the town. The church was really nice too. We even met younger adults (20s) that went into the town and did the night bar scenes without issues.

My wife and I go to Mexico (specifically Tijuana) every other weekend for dinner and shopping. We drive in Mexico when we're there and have yet to encounter any problems other than the occasional language barrier. I'm not making a general statement about Mexico that it is safe, but the opposite is also not correct. If you're the kind of person that looks for trouble, I suggest you do a test run in certain parts of L.A. first before the adrenaline rush of visiting a tourist spot in Mexico.
Back to the deal, this is seems like a decent deal for this type of stay in PV. I've never stayed at this Sheraton Buganvilias before, but it gets pretty good reviews on tripadvisor. I'm heading back to PV in April, but renting a condo for that trip.

Pv felt really safe. It's not like other Mexican cities I've visited that felt shady like Tijuana and cozumel. We walked around pv with zero issues at night. The food is insanely good. The water is safe to drink from the tap. Uber was crazy cheap. I'd definitely do pv again.
Also re Covid: it is everywhere in Mexico and healthcare facilities are very limited. People there have a lot of distrust in their government and don't follow masking that well and vaccine access has been a mess. If you go, aren't careful and get sick, don't expect easy access to healthcare. PV has tons of hospitals and doctors.. but covid has swamped everything. The first waves of covids were because jerks from the US and Canada brought it to Mexico to party without masks, don't be like them.

All these people getting their ignorance talk, there's so much talk about how much violence there is in Mexico and in reality I've never experienced any of it, and I get out of the tourist district, to the neighborhoods, and I experience nothing but people being very friendly and very polite and amazing food.
Yeah there's crime, but they are killing each other, cartels have confrontations and they kill each other.
You can get killed in the Us as well, there's a lot going on that we don't hear in the news, but local newspapers will have al that information, the government doesn't want you to live in fear in your own country, and yes they will tell you NOT to travel to Mexico or anywhere else in the world because they want you to spend your money here in the US and not miss out on that Tax money they wont get if you travel internationally.
I am just socked of how many people claim to be smart but in fact they are so dumb and still believe everything they hear on TV.
