Screen sucks for office use. I returned it within 48hours
LG 43in 4k ultrafine USBc is 5x better than this if you care for picture performance
How does this compare to something like Samsung 43in AU8000 Series 4k UHD smart TV, if use is strictly and mainly for PC productivity work? It's currently $380

I've been researching this also and it seems every TV is different and there is no way to know unless you try. Some have a menu option. Some require a CEC cable. Some require an IR device like Broadlink. I now think is better just to buy a monitor that was designed to be used as a monitor.
The CEC device you may be referring to is the GORITE USB - HDMI-CEC Adapter. There seems to be conflicting information regarding whether or not it truly supports 4k at 60hz, and it has quite a few negative reviews. It also adds another $50 onto the purchase price of whatever display you buy. So it may or may not work, and it's expensive. I'm less familiar with the IR device you mentioned. In any event, I agree with you- there doesn't appear to be an easy way to use a TV as a monitor and ensure that it automatically turns on and off like a purpose-built monitor.

hi,

i actually just leave it on and have the TV's inactivity set to something like 30-minutes, so I really only have to turn it on with the remote and let it turn itself off

i'll admit, having to use the remote drove me nuts for about the first couple of months, now it is just part of my normal routine.

i have the remote right next to my mouse pad, so I just have to tap the power button to turn on the TV.

like the other person said, there are some CEC accessories you can buy for your computer to help turn the TV on & off like a monitor when the computer comes on, but I never tried any of those things.
Gotcha, thanks for the info! It sounds like you've minimized the inconvenience, but it's still more than I care to bother with lol.

$425 for this monitor if you have perks at work dot com access via re-direct to samsung's website.

Edit: Did the 5% cancel trick; and it refunded $23.73 back to my CC. Final price = $401.26 + Tax + Recycle Fee

I've got the previous version of this mounted on a wall behind my desk at home. It's pretty good for casual gaming, bedroom HTPC and obviously cad/video/productivity.

I recommend the monitor for CAD.
I bought it during Black Friday. It is my second 43" screen.
It is sitting on my desk about 30in away, side by side with an Acer ET430K.

I don't game on it, I don't use the "smart" functions.

I am a structural engineer and for my usage, resolution + size matters more than color accuracy.
You can have a complete drawing sheet open and see details. Can't beat that.
Yes, I have to turn my head to see everything on both screens but that is a lot better then scrolling and zooming.

Is this model RGB or BGR? The similar one at Bestbuy seems to be BGR based on the comments and someone's post in here as well.

Curious how this compares to your Acer? I believe your Acer is IPS whereas this is a VA panel. Does text look about the same on both (crispness)? Or is one better than the other for text, etc?

Thanks,

I bought samsung thinking i could enjoy Tizen OS but the panel uniformity was horrendous. you get up from your desk and whole panel became white.

LG IPS, no freaking issue. worth the extra money if youre looking at the monitor 8hours or more a day.

Can chime in as I have this monitor too. I love it. It's basically perfect.

Hey there, quick question since you have the monitor I have currently, the Acer ET430K. I was thinking about "upgrading" the Acer for the Samsung in this post, the M7 43 inch. Do you think the picture quality is better on the Acer (ADS panel) or the Samsung (VA panel)?

Thanks!

Just noticed I'm seeing this listed at $399.97 at Micro Center now. Seems like a decent deal all things considered?

I'm debating on this or going with a 43" 4K TV (which would be cheaper).
